09 - Get to know Each Other.

The night went on pretty fast, Matteo left after 1 or 2 hours, Isabel has been ranting about her love life, Aunt Lucia has been looking at wedding décor for the past 25 minutes. And I'm stuck here with a whole lot of people in one big living room. 

Is it just me or everyone looks un-normal. 

Its most definitely just me. 

"Are you even listening to me?" She lifts her cup of tea up and takes 2 careful sips. 

"Mhm. Keep going." I wasn't listening to her but i knew it wasn't worth listening into. 

"You've been zoned out the whole time i was talking, what's wrong-- and don't lie and say nothing." Ugh what do I tell her now. "What are you talking about Isabel. I love your stories!" I added some energy into that.

 I'm very bored. This party has been exhausting and boring at the same time. I'll escape and go smoke outside, that sounds great to me.

"Where are you goi-" 

"Can't talk right now Isabel, Tell my dad I went to the bathroom if he asks!" I rushed outside. 

I needed some fresh air.

My eyes felt light. My head hurts so bad right no. Looking around I noticed my hair and makeup was all messed up and I was in my clothes from..

Last night?

I don't remember anything from last night except for the fact I was with Isabel at my party..

Getting myself up I went to the bathroom to find myself looking like a sea monster.

I made my bed after spending the last hour looking a little bit presentable. I had totally forgotten what an important day it was today..

My in laws were coming over for lunch. In about... An hour.

"Where have you been?" Halfway through the stairs I met Carlos. "Aren't you supposed to be with Lylah for the weekend?" Lylah was his girlfriend and my favorite person ever, Although we only see each other rarely because her house is 2 hours away and she only visits our beach house down 30 minutes away.

Besides I've been busy with the wedding that i don't even get time to paint my nails anymore.

"Stop ignoring the question, Dad has been worried after you disappeared before your own party even ended." He had a point but i don't even remember when i went to bed. 

"Uh, I would love to chat to you about it but I'm crazy busy right now, Bye!" I made my way to the kitchen to find a 3 table long food court. 

"Are you sure we need this much food I-" 

"Of course! This is very important. Don't worry about that go get dressed. Quickly!"

 Woah. I was kicked out of my own kitchen. Normally I would walk back in but i had to get ready asap.

It was 2:10pm and I was late. Matteo and his dad are always early so i assume they are already here. I rushed downstairs to find Merlos and Carlos In the backyard with the others. 

"What is always taking you so long maria?" My older brother stood in front of me before i could walk in. "Sorry! I lost my earrings, besides it was only 10 minutes." 

"No. It was 13 minutes. Now get in there." I never liked how Merlos was always so serious and overprotective. It was quite frightening.  "Maria! There you are, Take a seat." Mr. Knight was seated across from me and my father right beside him. 

And of course Matteo was beside me and my brothers beside him. "Thank you." 

"So, Are you two getting along more now?" Carlos aksed.

"Sure." "I guess."  Both me and Matteo said at the same time. 

"Okayy...Thats super interesting." Carlos is the opposite of Merlos. He's very un-serious, Impatient and funny... Sometimes...

My father gave me a glare, I wondered why but then forgot about last night. 

"Maria. I was told you were in the restroom last night. You never returned, why is that?" Of course my father had to interrupt every dinner or lunch with one inconvenience.

I cleared my throat. "I wasn't feeling well." I could feel Matteo staring into my soul.

"You look fine now." After this I will rip him to shreds. Matteo had a way of making things more serious than they should be. "Yeah, because I slept dumbass."  I kicked his leg so he could shut up.

"I see." Father changed the subject while Carlos was ranting about his future life. "I'll have 4 dogs and 2 kids. Final."

"What on earth are you going to do with 4 dogs?" Merlos spoke. 

"I don't know, Dogs are adorable." I laughed at his response. 

"In my opinion dogs are disgusting." I looked at Matteo. "Seriously?" I said quietly while everyone was talking separately.  "What? Dogs are so messy." 

"I'm going to make you adopt one if we ever end up getting married." I always dreamed of my father telling me i won't need to marry him at the very last minute. Too bad that probably wont happen. "We are getting married." Serious as always. Of course.

"I just said 'If' because there's chances I could go marry someone I actually love." 

"Shut up and eat your food Maria." 

"So Me and Hugo have been thinking, You two should go out for dinner and get to know each other." Mr. Knight just said 20 words that I knew would happen at one point. 

I hate this.

"Nope."

"No thanks dad." We both hated the idea of this and they knew we hated it, yet they still made plans. 

"Its been decided then! Wednesday at 6pm, At Polina's diner." Right now i really hate my father. If my mother was here, she'd say something. Carlo's expression said alot and Merlos just ate.

"I have plans." I need every excuse to get out of this.

"Cancel them Maria." "Can't do." 

"Yes you can, You're marrying him so at least get to know him a bit." 

"I know him enough."

"I know her enough as well, there's no need." Matteo said.

I looked at Matteo, Then sighed.

Loudly.
