14 - Sleepover?

I had to say Maria wasn't doing such a bad job at taking care of kids, I dropped by her house to make sure that fucker Diego wasn't up to something. After that morning I overheard their conversation, I went over to Diego himself to talk some sense into him.

He can't just come beg to date his ex who he cheated on years ago. Now that's a red flag.

Maria, Aria and Mila were baking cookies, I just leaned back and watched. She looked less bored when kids came along. What I mean is she's always in another world when it comes to children, Its cute in my opinion. 

"Hey, Matteo?" Mila must've noticed me staring.                                                                                                    "Yes?" 

"Are you and Maria In love?" Now that was a 'out of nowhere' type of question. 

"Ask her, I don't know." Maria probably heard and side eyed me. I knew what that meant. It was a sign to change the topic. 

"So you are in love?" Aria joined in. 

"Um, How about we get the snacks ready?" There comes the topic change.                                            "I already did that. If they wanna know so much about us, lets spill." I was purposely trying to piss her off. 

"Why waste time on that? We only have less than 2 hours left."

"We wanna know! Its probably so cute." 

"No, you don't." Maria said.                                                                                                                                            "Yes we do!"

"Alright then, Take a seat ladies."  I gestured my hand to the living room. Aria excitedly ran, while Mila skipped, That just left the lovely fiancée for last. 

"Why are you even here. Get out." 

"I bet you enjoy my presence." 

"Don't flatter yourself, asshole" That was her favorite word. I'm going to have to get used to that. 

After we all were sitting, I started. "We knew each other since we were both in school. I first thought she was the most annoying self centered girl ever. Which was sadly true." They both laughed a bit, Maria's expression was her most scary one. 

"Okay, we are done. Girls, pick out a movie down in the theater room. I'll bring snacks, Matteo, you come with me." I guess I said too much. 

"Okay, come on aria." Mila said before disappearing into the halls.

"Seriously? I am not self centered, You can't say things like that when I'm babysitting. Matteo, tell me the real reason you came here in the first place."                                                                                         

 "I came for your father, but he's not here. So, I'm just bonding with my fiancé now." I don't know what, but something inside me wanted to like her, maybe even be nice to her one in a while. 

Shit, what am I saying. I hate her. She hates me. We hate eachother. 

Before anyone could even talk, her phone vibrated. "Who is it?" 

"Its the aria and mila's mom." She picked up. "Hello?" She put it on speaker so i wouldn't ask questions, "Hey, Maria. Our car broke down and we're headed to our hotel in an uber, Is it okay if I ask Jenna to pick the girls up tomorrow morning? I know its a lot to ask, But we'll pay you extra." 

"Oh! Yes, of course. Do you want to speak to them or..?" 

"I would but we have to fix the car as soon as possible, Tell them I'll call later, Oh and they have to be in bed by 12." When I was a kid, I slept at 9:30 on weekends. lucky girls.

"Okay. Oh and don't worry about paying me at all. I love kids." 

"Don't be silly now. You deserve it, Have fun! Bye." 

"Oh, please don't worr-" She hung up before she could finish. 

"Okay, I'm leaving now."     

"Nope. You will help me with this since you love being with your fiancée. If you don't I will leak your embarrassing high school moment online."                                                                                           

I knew i should of left earlier, I hope I won't be stuck watching a princess movie.
