07 - Reunite...

I squinted my eyes.

You've got to be kidding me right now. 

Maria broke up with fucking Diego because he cheated on her. What a asshole. He never knew how to treat a girl either way, all his exes left him or  he cheated on them. I however wouldn't be surprised if his future wife leaves him.

He caught me glancing at him from the window of my car and awkwardly smiled. 

He doesn't recognize me.

That just makes things a whole lot easier.

I got out of my car and stared at him from across the street. He just continued walking until I walked up to the asshole.

"You're creeping me out. Do you need anything?" His face looks uglier than in highschool. Again, not surprised. 

"Diego." I smiled, tilted my head a bit. 

"Hey who are yo-" I cut him off. 

"What are you doing here Diego." 

Realization came into his head. He raised a eyebrows stupidly. "Matteo." He smiled at me. He really is a idiot.

"Get out of this city Diego. I don't want you near Maria or her family -- especially this city." He just laughed at my face. "You can't be serious right now. Just because you're marrying her doesn't mean you own the fucking city." One hand covered his mouth. My expression remained the same.

I let him talk for a bit until he really pissed me off bringing up Maria. 

I punched him in the face a couple times

Or maybe that was just what I was thinking to do.

I threatened him a couple of times, then drove off. I refuse to spend any time of him today.

Glancing at the clock I realized it was already 8:15pm. The drive was about 17 minutes to her street.

I had arrived 15 minutes late because of traffic, This will definitely be a long night. 

Hugo - Marias father, glanced at me from the window. Smiling back and walked up to the door.

"You must be Matteo! You're just in time, dinner is getting prepared -- Please, come in!" A lady in her 30s or 40s appeared at the door. She looked quite a bit like Hugo but just female version. 

"Hello, its nice to meet you..." 

"Oh right, my names Angelina, I'm Marias aunt." She looked young for a aunt. I've met her daughter at the last event and she looked a few years older than Maria. 

She disappeared into the kitchen while i walked in the living room to be greeted. Although i still couldn't spot my fiancé. 

That sounds weird. 

"Matteo, what took you so long?" Hugo smiled, It looked fake to me. 

"Apologies Mr. Lopez. I was stuck in traffic. I hope I wasn't too late for anything important. " 

"No, no its alright, Well lets start our dinner now that everybody's here!" He said loud enough for the guests to hear. The guest list was long as Maria said but the house was big so the amount looked less to me. Not that It bothers me of course.

 "I'm dying of hunger and you decided to be 30 minutes late." A voice behind me caught my attention.  "I was only 13 minutes late, don't be dramatic Maria." She was known for being dramatic when she got too hungry. 

"Its the same thing.." I raised my eyebrows at her response. Did she really just compare 13 minutes and 30 minutes. If I'm doing my calculations correctly then I believe its only a 17 minute difference.

Huffing she left and dragged her cousin along on the way.

I'm probably going to die by the time I get married, worst leave this dinner party.
