04 - Spilling The Tea

Looking over to the alarm next to my nightstand I sighed.
4:37am
I can barely even sleep after last night. It's literally haunting me at this point. After some thinking i tried my hardest to go to sleep. I have to be up at 7am in the morning.

I woke up to the scent of blossoms filling my nose. It was finally the morning. I'm so relieved I got atleast some sleep. I changed into a dress and put some makeup and jewelry on. I decided on going a little extra with my makeup so it has a flawless look.

"Good morning Ms. Lopez! We have your breakfast ready for you downstairs, and your father is waiting for you." Jess informed me outside my door. "I'm coming!" I said loud enough for her to hear from the bathroom.

I went downstairs and saw my father already starting on his breakfast. As much as I'm angry with him right now and probably will be later, he's still my father and I should Atleast talk to him. "Good morning." He dropped his fork and smiled wide.

"Good morning." I sat across from him. I already know what's about to happen. He's either going to give me a lecture or start asking sudden questions about wedding, the tea party and more personal things. "So. How have you been?" He beats the silence.

"Fine."
"Are you excited for the tea party with your friends soon?"
"Sure."
"How's the breakfast?"
"Fine."

"Maria, you can't just give me a 'sure' and a 'fine' for every question I ask. I understand your upset with me but Atleast communicate at breakfast."

"Where's Merlo and Carlos?" I said ignoring whatever he expects me to say.
"They're out on a business trip for a few days. They wont be back til Thursday."

What buissness trip could be so important and urgent that Carlos didn't tell me about?

Carlos tells me literally everything. He's pretty bad at keeping secrets so I just force it out of him.
"What business trip." I chewed on my bacon. He looked at his plate then at me. "No need to worry about that. You should get going, your friends are waiting."

I forgot about the tea party but just couldn't get the business trip out of my head. This family is used to not telling me things I want to know. I always have to find out myself.

"Oh my goodness Maria! It's been forever!"
"Look at her she's getting married soon!"
"Maria we missed you." All three of my friends said at basically the same time. I couldn't even step out the door before them attacking me.

"I missed you guys too! Come here." I gave all of them a big hug.

"So, who's the lucky guy?" Adrianna said — she's the youngest of our friend group, 1 year younger than us.
"Come on, tell us!" Gina sang, Gina was 4 months older than me and was the kind of the least mature of all of us but I loved her lots. "Guys come on. Sit down and have some tea I'll tell you everything." and we all sat down.

"Now spill all of the tea girl, we have to know." Spoke Jenna — the most mature, loyal and calm of all of us. She was the one who started the whole friend group and brought us together. Jess brought out some tea and biscuits. She gave me a wink and a note, I couldn't read it at the moment so I put it in my pocket.

"Okay so. To sum it all up, my dad made me marry a rich guy who also happens to be Matteo." I waited for their reactions since they all know who Matteo was from Highschool. "And as you 3 know I hate him, he hates me." I finished off.

Jenna's face remained the same and Gina widened her eyes while Adrianna asked the questions. "Whoah. That's too much to process. You're marrying him." Adrianna is barely surprised, I guess the news really shocked her.

I nodded while sipping my tea. Mmm I love the flavour.

"No way, shut up you're lying to us right now." Oh gosh I have so much to tell them where the hell do I start.

We spent the 2 hours catching up, talking about their love life. It was fun I guess. I haven't seen them in a while so catching up takes all the stress from my body for the 2 hours and then comes back in after. They left soon after noon.

When I was 16 I gardened my garden, and grew lots of flowers. My goal was to have the whole field filled when I'm 20. Fun fact: that never happened because of my mothers death, I've never talked about it but she had died in a car accident and it had been all my fault. She got upset with me and I didn't care much of it.

I miss her.

I erased the thoughts from my mind when Jess walked towards me. "Did you read the note, miss?" She grinned. Oh no it must be something dirty or about Matteo. Because I know that grin.

I pulled out the folded note from my pocket and started unfolding it. I could 100% tell Jess was impatient and wanted me to read it already. I put my hand on my mouth and slightly pushed her shoulder. The note said,

'Tell them about last night with Matteo! They'll enjoy it.' -Jess

She giggled a bit. "They're already gone so too late." I laughed it out like I wasn't uncomfortable as fuck. "I was
Even giving you signals to show them!"

"Oops, well I must've missed it." We laughed and talked for a while until I realized how hot it was. I need a shower.

Hopping into the shower i just thought if Matteo, and smiled. I was hating myself for falling into his traps but he wasn't that bad. I wouldn't say I'm in love with him though.
