A car ride with Nathaniel was like our usual ones. I'm maybe even glad he's coming along. "What's your favorite song?" He was the type of person to always turn on the radio while I just drive and think.

"I don't have one." It was true, I just listen to any song that's on.

"Come on. Everyone has to have one." 

"Well I don't." 

"Okay, Mr. Grumpy. Oh look we're here."

I was there before her of course, She's always somehow late so I'm not surprised. After some time of Nate staring into my soul, She came.

"Sorry I'm late. I was-- Um who's this?" She arrived 7 minutes after us. Always the odd numbers.

"He's apparently a third wheel." Her eyebrows went up a bit but she sat down beside Nathaniel and In front of me. 

"Its great you're here, I wouldn't be able to spend even a minute alone with him." That was a line I heard plenty of times from her. Nathaniel just nodded in confusion. I guess I forgot to tell him I didn't really like my fiancé. 

"Uh so are you guys fighting or something?" Nathaniel looked at both of us then gave me a 'Say Something' face he always gives me.

"We're not fighting, He just loves to be an asshole 24/7." 

"Its mostly you Maria." I really shouldn't have said that because she had kicked my leg. Hard. 

"Anyways, Are you two friends?" She had completely ignored the pain she caused and turned to Nate. "Childhood Friends actually. And I agree with you, He's a complete asshole." 

Ouch. Even my best friend betrayed me.

"Glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks so."

"I'm starving! Where's the waitress?" 

"I'll go find one, You two stay here."  And just like that he left us alone, I'm guessing on purpose.

"So... How's your life been?" I was trying too hard to break the silence 

"Shut up and wait for your bestie to come back." I didn't think anyone would know how to reply to that. "Save that attitude for later Maria, Try to be nice just this once." 

2 minutes of just staring at each other felt way longer, Nate was taking long on purpose. Asshole.

"About that kiss.. I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable." 

"Oh my gosh! Are you apologizing? Say it again on camera for me." Her dumbass actually pulled out her phone and started recording. 

"Seriously? I hope you fall walking in those heels." 

"When's bestie coming back anyway?" Her new nickname for Nate was 'Bestie'. Again not surprised, her nickname for me was 'Devil'. I wonder why I was never called bestie. "His name is Nate and he left us alone thinking we'd make out or something." 

"Actually 'Bestie' has been behind you for the last 2 minutes." Nates voice came from behind. 

"Sit. Down. Or get out asshole. Where's the waitress?" 

"Long story."

 Long story meant he got offended somehow and wouldn't let any waitress serve us.
