"This is the place," Thoma states, pulling over. Upon stopping the car, you quickly opened the door to step outside. You stare at the festival from a distance in amazement.
"You look lovely Y/n," Ayaka says, gazing back at you in awe as she rolled down the window of the passenger seat. You twirled around, showing off your beautifully designed yellow kimono to her. "Thanks for lending me the kimono, I love it!" You hugged Ayaka out of joy, squealing in excitement. Looking back into the side mirror of the car, you couldn't help stare at your reflection with a bright smile upon your face. For the first time, you'd be able to watch a firework show close-up! "aaah! I've never been to a festival like this before, I can't wait!" You hummed happily, spinning around again.
As Ayaka looked at you, she couldn't help but feel a sense of worry. "Are you sure you don't want me or Thoma to be with you at the festival? We can send an assistant if you'd like?" She asks, frowning. You quickly fix up your hair in the mirror, before turning your head to lock gazes with your cousin. "It's okay... I'll be okay! My physical condition has been getting better, plus, Scaramouche will be there." You reassured Ayaka, getting ready to head towards the festival.
A small smile creeped up on the ends of Ayaka's lips, she couldn't help but feel happy seeing the joyful expression upon your face. "Well then... have fun!" she exclaims cheerfully, waving you goodbye. "Yeah, and if anything comes up, don't hesitate to call me," Thoma quickly adds.
You nod, "of course! I'm going to go now, bye!" you began rushing towards the festivial, waving goodbye to Ayaka and Thoma...

As the sun sets, the sky was plastered with a hue of orange and pink. The cheerful sounds of children echoed throughout the Naganohara Firework Festival, whilst they wander in amazement. Dozens of lights emanating from the stalls covered the festival in a dazzling display, a sight that can be seen from afar. As you walked towards the festival, a gentle clicking sound accompanied you with each step, the soft padding within your Zori sandals cushioning you beneath your feet.
In the distance, you spot a familiar figure of a young boy waiting for you at the entrance; his dark purple yukata immediately catching your eye. "Scaramouche!" you shout out, waving your arm high in the air as you quickly approached him. Hearing your voice call out his name, he turned his head towards you.
"What took you so long?" he huffed in annoyance, crossing his arms. A nervous sound of laughter escapes pass your mouth at his remark. "Sorry! I had some trouble putting on my Kimono... but what do you think? How does it look?" You turn a bit, showing off your yellow garment to the young boy now. However, he simply clicks his tongue in response, before turning away from you.
"I don't care, let's just hurry up, watch the fireworks and get this over with." He spoke in a bitter tone, already going into the festival, not even bothering to wait for you. "Hey! Wait up!!" you rush to catch up with him.
Walking away, Scaramouche could feel his heart pounding beneath his chest. A soft, almost bashful expression covered his face. And he couldn't resist as his lips curled downwards, forming a gentle, wistful smile.
His head slightly turns back to glance at you, and he chuckles at the sight of you struggling. A gentle look was glossed over his eyes as he reaches his hand outwards... for you to hold. This subtle but warming gesture made your heart flutter. You extend your arm out to hold it, and you could feel warmth of his hand immediately wrap around yours.
As the two of you walked through the festival side by side, your eyes kept wandering back to Scaramouche's hand. The way his fingers intertwined with yours, it was as if your hand was perfectly molded to fit his. A faint blush lingered on your cheeks before you noticed the reddening of his ears.
Pursing his lips, Scaramouche finally stops. "What do you want to do first?" he asks, avoiding your gaze in embarrassment. A quiet giggle escapes out your throat at the sight of the young boys redden ears, indicating that he was blushing. "Hey! What's so funny?!" His head darts toward you by instinct, revealing his tomato colored face. Seeing this, you couldn't contain your laughter as you burst out in the crowd, startling both Scaramouche and the people around you. "Sorry! it's just the way you turn into a tomato when you held my hand!" you continued to die of laughter.
"You!—"He looks around, now humiliating as the heads of dozen of people were turned to look at the two of you. Scaramouche quickly tugs on your hand and rushes to get out of the crowd.
"We just went into the goddamn festival and you're already causing a scene!" He exclaims in anger and embarrassment as he drags you into a more secluded area. You were still laughing, now holding your stomach. "Stop laughing!" He then pinches your cheek, making you squeal in pain instead. "Fine, fine! I will, I will!!" You finally stopped and your cheek was released.
He crosses his arms, now glaring at you.
"If you get so shy by holding a girls hand then why did you hold mine?" you ask, wiping the tears from your cheeks. Scaramouche now looked at you as if you were stupid, "so you wouldn't run away idiot. Did you forget? Last time we were here together you—"
"Last time?"
He immediately stopped talking.
Your head tilted to the side in confusion, watching Scaramouche's widened eyes. "When was last time? A year ago, two years ago, a dozen years ago... or maybe three thousand years ago?" You question, gazing into the young boy's violet eyes as you waited in anticipation for his response.
"No, there was no last time?" —Were the only words Scaramouche could utter in amidsts of confusion. But despite what he said, his tone was with was filled with uncertainty.
Unlike Scaramouche, rather then wallowing in state of perplexity, you simply smiled.
"Don't fry up that little brain of yours thinking too hard, come on! Let's go back to the festival." You grabbed his hand again to lead him back inside, breaking the awkward silence as he changed the topic.
"What did you just say?!" Scaramouche exclaims, "My brain is not small!" He argues back as he proceeds spit out more statements in an act to defend himself.
...Through the eyes of the hairpin, have you seen it too, Kunikuzushi?
Extra: Scaramouche unknowingly knocked over a child as he was rushing Y/n out of the festivals.
