The wither angel named Kaia soared across the Tundra that encased Frostbourne territory, searching for their newest inventions. Based on her Lord's orders, she was looking for a new form of golem.

She had not been told what exactly to look for though, just a new variant of these walking blocks of iron. Kaia had always hated them but took great pride in bringing the lumbering creatures down. They weren't too challenging to deal with on their own, not until the humans started outfitting them with their latest technology.

It was then that they became more of a challenge, with their beacon guns attached to their arms making engaging one risky. But she loved the thrill of taking one out on the battlefield and it filled her with such joy when she watched their dark red eyes slowly fade as life drained from them.

Kaia was so absorbed in her thoughts, distracted just long enough for an automated turret to lock on and fire.. She spotted the beams of light in the corner of her eyes and was able to dodge the first few shots. Unfortunately she failed to evade the last few light projectiles that tore through her wings and caused her to go crashing down.

Although critically wounded, she was able to change her trajectory midair towards the direction where she had come from. Under all the brush and thicket was a hidden portal that led back to her home realm. All she needed to do was land in that area and go through that portal.

With her change in direction she was able to hit the tree branches above her designated spot, which slowed her descent but hurt like hell along the way. Eventually she made her way to the ground with a sharp thud but she was alive yet barely able to move.

Still, the wither angel did not give up so easily. She managed to muster whatever strength she had to crawl towards the portal that lay just mere feet from her. Every little movement seemed to be more painful than the last and her vision started to blur while everything seemed to spin around her.

Even though darkness tugged at the corners of her eyes, she pushed through it all and managed her way through the portal.  It dumped her on the edge of the fortress she had stood on earlier that day, now she was barely able to slump against the obsidian while footsteps were heard running towards her.  With her vision fading she couldn't see who it was before eventually losing consciousness.

She would wake hours later in a Nether infirmary where she was laying on a small cot.

"I see you're finally up." Naeus' voice came from her left, slightly startling her.

"My lord! I apologize for this all!" She started. "I should have listened to your orders and not made you have to waste your time on me."

The Nether King seemed taken aback by her words. "You don't need to apologize at all! All that matters to me is that you're safe now. Anything else is irrelevant."

That perplexed her. "I disobeyed your orders my lord and almost got myself killed. I should be punished."

"Nonsense!"

Kaia was more confused now. "Why?"

"Because I love you!" Naeus blurted out without thinking. He instantly regretted his words, now was not the time to let his feelings be known.

"I always knew that, I just wanted to hear it from you." She admitted. "Come here, close."

The Nether King had a vague idea of what she was attempting but he never expected her to go through with it. So it genuinely surprised him when she put her soft, dry lips against his own firmer lips. But he indulged in it, grabbing her head gently and leaning into it.

They shared that passionate moment for what felt like hours but was just merely a few seconds. But it helped liberate the Nether King of his bottled up feelings and allowed them both to finally profess their love to one another.

That moment would spark a deeper relationship, a bond that Naeus had hoped to share for so long.
