Ceris felt guilt cloud her mind again as her thoughts lingered on the battle for the End. Her people were enslaved, forced to work for the Nether Empire while she was locked in a cell near her captor.

With nothing else to do in there, all the ex-matriarch could do is remember the fight for her home. Her mind raced with other options she had at her disposal at the time, but they always led to the same thing: hopelessness. No matter what she could've done during the fight, it didn't matter, the battle was lost and her home tarnished.

Now she laid on her small bed, slumped against the wall. She heard footsteps approaching, getting ever so louder with each passing second until they stopped right in front of her cell.

She looked up and was met by a wither skeleton's steely gaze. It walked up to the cell's entrance.

"Sire wants you." It said simply, opening the cell door for her.

Ceris glanced at the door for a moment but she didn't move. "I don't care what the Nether King wants, leave me alone."

A grin formed on the skeletons face. "King Naeus knew you might say that, if you don't come willingly he told me I could have 'fun' with a few of your friends. And I think you know exactly what I mean."

The ex-Matriarch knew that he referred to the other enderkin held captive. She also knew that the threat was serious, the Nether King would do anything to fulfill his goals, no matter how small.

She got up quietly, her head hung as she walked out the door with the wither staying close. He led her down a hall towards an open door where he shoved her inside. Ceris stumbled but managed to go inside without losing her footing completely.

The door shut behind her and the skeleton walked off. She looked up, taking in the room she was now being held in. Very little furniture filled the room, most of the space was occupied by a bed at the far end with a nightstand beside it.

To the right of her was a door that creaked open the moment she laid eyes on it. In walked a familiar face, covered in only a towel was the King himself. He stood tall, eyeing his prisoner up and down.

A faint blush covered her face at the sight of him. As much as she despised him there had always been a small part of her that held some feelings for him. Now seeing him this way, it brought that small part out.

He gave her a warm smile. "I'm glad to see you came voluntarily."

"Hardly." she mumbled under her breath.

He walked up to her and suddenly dropped to one knee. He held his hands out, a small object cupped in between.

Is he doing what I think he is? She asked herself internally, her heart unexpectedly beating rapidly. Naeus grabbed her hands and was met with no resistance as he placed the item into her own hands. Gods, he is! She thought once she saw the shiny netherite ring.

"Matriarch Ceris, you were once the leader of the Ender Watchers not too long ago. I've admired you for so long, watching you, always knowing you were the right one and so I ask now, will you marry me? Join me in eternal matrimony, become my queen and we'll raise a grand empire together."

Her mind told her not to accept, how could she? He was the enemy, the one who ripped her life away from her. Yet her heart said differently, it out-spoke her mind.

"Yes!" she exclaimed, pausing momentarily to wear the ring still in her hands. "Yes, I will." A smile flickered on her lips and she embraced the being she once called an enemy. No matter what, she knew that she made the right decision.
