Onika stands in front of the mental institution, a dark eerie building which had vines growing at the sides.
She had goose bumps covering up her whole body, taking a gulp and doing a quick prayer she finally walks inside the building.
She worked for a newspaper company 'World Today' and was asked to write up an article about the case that was— Beyoncé Giselle Knowles...
It used to be hot topic sometime last year but it died down not too long after, the newspaper company had been having a decline in the purchase of their newspapers, so Onika being one of the best writers had been given a task to write something that would spike interest into the hearts of their readers and what better way to spike interest than writing about a once upon a time national case.
She was alleged to have just gone bat shit crazy one day and stabbed her father to death luckily neighbours had called the police before she had done anything worse.
'Hopefully she doesn't stab me as well..'
Onika thought walking into the quiet lobby which looked even more creepy than it did from outside.A shiver ran up her spine as she looked down at the checkered coloured tiles beneath her feet, something caught her attention which made her kneel down to get a closer look.
It looked like blood?
"Intrigued are we?" She jumps back her hand on her chest looking up at the older white woman standing behind her with a smile on her face.. so wide it looked almost.. sinister.
"The patients don't like being here very much.. but what can we do.. they need help." Onika nearly gagged at the thought that came to mind.
The patients clawing at the floors trying to get out of the building that their fingernails rip off their hands..
She clears her throat trying to get the image out her mind, "Who did you come to see?" The woman finally asks walking towards the desk.
"A.. Beyoncé? Beyoncé Giselle Knowles?"
"Seriously?" The woman asked with an incredulous expression laughing loudly at that.
"What?"
"Out of.. everyone here you wanna speak to the senseless one?" She begins to laugh again but stops herself at the straight face Onika gives her.
"I didn't ask of your opinion on who I want to speak to." Noticing the anger in her words, the nurse grew a bit embarrassed.. she clears her throat, "Uh.. I'll go get her set up, umm you can take a seat while you wait." Onika only nods in her direction watching her walk away, she looks around her yet again still getting a very odd vibe from the place.
As Onika sits on the couch a lot of thoughts come to her, What am I going to say to her? How's she going to react to me? Is she as dangerous as they say? I hope I don't get stabbed..
"Please follow me." She's brought out of her thoughts by the same nurse she'd met earlier who led her through a door and into a room.
It had two little sofas facing one another, a book shelf filled with storybooks and a little soft tune played in the background, "When we have a family member or an occurring visitor we let them sit here." The woman says "It gives off more of a homey vibe."
They then walked down the quiet hallways, which had multiple doors, Onika mentally takes note of how pin drop silent the whole place was.. a mental institute isn't supposed to be this silent? Is it?
