Katerina and Dimitri were sitting in the back of Wee Hours club. The atmosphere was homey yet appropriate for the setting. "You know, I've never been in a Dhampir bar," Kat told Dimitri.

"This isn't a Dhampir bar."

"It looks like it is. I'm the only Moroi in here."

"It's only because Moroi have better bars. They usually hang out there.".

"I see your point."

"Can I buy you a drink?"

"Do they have soda?"

"They do. Do you not drink alcohol?"

"I don't really like the taste of alcohol and the idea to drink to just get drunk. I don't see the appeal."

"I'll go get your soda. I'll be right back." Kat took the chance to look around. She had never seen most of these people before. She prided herself in knowing the Guardians personally but apparently, she didn't try hard enough. She made a mental note to try harder. Dimitri put a class in front of her and she thanked him.

"What were you thinking about just now?"

"How I don't know any of these people."

"It would be impossible to know all of these people."

"I would like to try. I don't want to be a stereotypical Moroi that doesn't care about Guardians. The only Guardians that I know well, are you and Alberta. And one of you is my sister. I don't even really know Rose well. I only know her because of Lissa. I need to do better."

"I have never met n Moroi quiet like you," Dimitri said as he leaned closer to her. Kat put her elbow on the table and she leaned closer to him as well.

"Is that a bad thing?"

"The opposite. I really like it.".

"I really want to kiss her right now." Dimitri's thoughts answered all of Kat's questions

"I need to tell you something."

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. What I have to tell you might shock you. Prepare yourself."

"I'm prepared."

"We're soulmates."

"I'm sorry, what?"

"I should have phrased that better. According to my brother, we have a soulmate connection. I did some reading up on it. It basically means that we share a soul. For some reason, I'm not really sure why, it split and now we each have a half. It makes it possible for us to hear each other's thoughts and occasionally see through each other's eyes. Has something like that happened to you?"

"The other day when I was trying to sleep. I saw things that weren't in my room but I chalked it up as a dream. I couldn't fall asleep so I decided to walk around campus. I walked past the library and something told me to stay there, now I understand why."

"I thought you said that you were there for Lissa."

"I didn't really have a reason to be there. I was lucky that Lissa was there so I used that."

"I'm sorry if this freaks you out."

"We live in a world where people have to drink human blood to survive. The fact that I share a soul with someone – someone like you – doesn't freak me out in the slightest. I'm actually relieved."

"Why? I basically imploded your life."

"It explains why I've felt so drawn towards you. It felt unjust to like you so quickly." Kat looked down at the table at Dimitri's words. This was what she was afraid of. He only liked her because of the bond that they shared, not because he actually had feelings for her. Dimitri picked up on her mood change.
