This is why Sabre always had his sword on him. Not because he was paranoid, no matter what Thera said, but because of situations like this.
He ducked under a slash of some pure darkness being, thrusting his sword through its chest.
"Behind you!"
Sabre spun around, slashing at the new enemy that approached. An infected Orange Steve, though they were so far gone they would be considered more darkness than Steve. He mentally apologized, but knew that this was for the best. He slashed the infected Steve's throat, and ignored the body when it dropped.
Downsides to not having lightning to dispose of your enemies. Sabre mused. You ended up leaving a trail of bodies.
Something dark lunged to his side, and he stepped backwards. The darkness fell to the ground, and he shoved his sword through its back. Sabre was already on the next enemy by the time it died.
Sabre grumbled when he slipped on the wet stones that made up the Yellow Kingdom's pathways. It was still raining, creating a slippery mess he had to fight it. Add the several melted bodies of darkness that created a disgusting sludge with the rain, and it was rough conditions to try and fight in.
He stepped back, barely dodging a swing from some other darkness being. He shoved his sword through its abdomen. Why was just the pure darkness attacking him and barely any infected Steves?
He spun around, slashing at a duo that tried to sneak up, having to correct himself when the wet stones made him spin farther and faster than expected.
How the hell did he even end up in this situation?

The moment the small army of Colorless Guards ended up teleporting in front of the Yellow Kingdom, was the moment any hope for this to be quickly finished was killed.
The two door like gates that allowed entrance to the Kingdom were destroyed. One gate hung by a single hing, and it was screeching as it moved in the harsh wind that blew across the lands. The other gate laid on the ground, currently being used as a fighting platform as several Yellow Guards fought back darkness and infected Steves. The Yellow Guards yelled out each time darkness managed to slip past and into the Kingdom.
The storm that hit the Rainbow Kingdom was currently at the Yellow Kingdom and seemed to have picked up strength. Rain was splattering the kingdom in thick sheets, stinging each time a drop hit his face or hangs. Lightning, unnatural and natural, danced above the kingdom, lighting up the sky for brief seconds before plunging the world back into the dreary gray that surrounded them.
Several Colorless Guards jolted forwards, some going to help the Yellow Guards while others ran through the broken gates and into the kingdom. Sabre ran forward, and he heard several steps behind him.
The ground was soaked with the sludge like material pure darkness melts into and rain, creating a slippery ground to run on, let alone fight. Shadow hissed, but Sabre couldn't –didn't– have time to figure out if it was because of the sheer amount of destruction around them, or the fact that a massacre of darkness clearly happened here.
Darkness, what Shadow was made of.
Past the kingdom's gates was chaos, not like outside of the gates was any better. Faintly, through the sheets of rain, he could see a yellow barrier covering the castle, and yellow figures lining the edge. Either fleeing to safety, or to help keep the barrier up, Sabre did not know. He was unable to see well enough with all the buildings surrounding him and the torrent of rain that was soaking him to the bone.
Sabre ran down a few streets, turning and weaving around, looking for any potential enemies. Shadow was just a dark glimpse in his peripheral vision, had he kept stride with him.
