BAM, I jolt awake and see my parents walk sleepily out of the office they were in. I put Tara down gently and get up from the where I am sitting. "Dad, Mom," I whisper. They turn around and I then notice that they are wearing handcuffs. I stop where I am, my eyes get blurry again.

My dad starts to say something, but I can't hear anything he says.

"What happened?" I interrupt him.

"Kayne."

"What did you do?" I ask more urgently.

"Nothi..."

"They committed a crime," A police officer says, interrupting what my father was saying.

I shake my head, it can't be true, no, no it can't be true.

"Kayne, we have to go. Take care of your sister," my mom says to me without even looking at me. Someone puts their hand around my shoulder. I look and realize that  it's the person that was talking at the front desk before I went to sleep. I read the name tag and realize that she is our social worker.

"It's getting late, lets go," she says to me.

"We'll be fine," my mom says reassuringly. I then look away, without saying a word, and let her take Tara and me into the dark night. I am too scared to argue to stay here, I am too scared that this is not a nightmare, but reality.
