It has been a month and I am finally back in my own bed, in my own house. My parents are out of jail and in their own bed too. Tara and I had gone to my grandmother's house. We stayed there for 26 days and then heard the good news. The new investigator found Ms. Anne and the old investigator to be guilty of blaming my parents for nothing. They got arrested but wouldn't tell anyone whom they were working for. My mom and dad, along with many other people, think that it is somebody who is holding a grudge. For now, nobody knows who this mystery person is, but I don't care. All that I care about is that everything is back to normal. Even when I went to school, they acted like I was never gone and just started from where we left off a month ago, but they actually didn't know what happened.
I am about to go to bed when my parents come inside to my bedroom."We have something to tell you," my mom says.
"We actually did hack something, but for a good reason," my dad blurts out, looking at me with a guilty face.
I get up from my bed feeling very confused. "What do you mean?" I ask them.
"We can't tell you now, we have to wait until you're older and you are offered a spot on the team."
"Team?" I ask, even more confused.
"Look Kayne. We have to brainwash you about this whole situation because you must never know."
I laugh, thinking that they are just playing a prank on me, but then they start to sing me a song.
"Forget the places.
Forget the faces.
Forget the truth.
Forget the lies."
My laughter dissolves. Before I know it, I am asleep, forgetting the whole last month and everything that came along with it.
