Glancing around as the other students began to get into groups, you couldn't help but feel a bit awkward. Maybe you could ask to just look around alone? It'd definitely be better than trying to force yourself into a group that didn't want you there.

You slowly trudged towards the professor before someone called out to you.

"Hey, wait! You're (Y/n), right?" Furrowing your eyebrows, you turned to come face to face with a raven haired girl. The moment she caught your attention she smiled just a bit to bright for your liking.

"Yeah, I am... and you are?" You asked, remembering her from a few of your classes, yet you could never recall her name.

Her eyes widened for a moment before she continued with the same cheerful tone. "I'm Evelyn! And I was wondering if you'd like to join me and my friends since i noticed you weren't in a group yet," she suggested.

You took a glance over her shoulder to see the two she was referring to. Appearing to be a boy who looked a lot like Evelyn while the other person was a girl with curly, blonde hair. These two you could also recall, yet with that in mind you weren't all that sure if you really wanted to join them. But you supposed that it would save you from having to ask the teacher to go alone with the possibility he wouldn't let you do so.

Evelyn gave you a strange look as you looked back to her to finally give her an answer. "Sure, I suppose I could join you three."

"Oh, perfect," She sighed in relief. "Come on then, I'll introduce you to them." She motioned for you to follow her as she went up to the two. "Okay, you two. This is (Y/n) and he's going to be joining our group!"

The boy rolled his eyes with disinterest. "Whatever." He then looked over at you to meet your gaze with his intense one. "I imagine she didn't tell you who we are, so I'll do it. I'm Elias and the girl over there is Ophelia." He motioned to said girl next to him as she shyly smiled at you.

You on the other hand could only frown. Having an immediate feeling of regret over your decision on joining their group. But there really was no going back at this point so you may as well make the best of it, you thought.

"Anyway..." Evelyn laughed awkwardly, causing you to cringe. "Why don't we finally go into the forest and look around a bit!" She announced and starts making her way towards a part of the area that contained what looked to be a small trail.

You sigh, quickly going to join her along with the other two. Stepping onto the dirt trail as the forest practically surrounded you the further you went into it. Yet the feeling of intimidating eyes landed on your group, almost as though it was attempting to burn holes into you.

~Time Skip~

Admittedly, the forest was still pretty in it's own way. With lush plants of  many different colors, but no matter how nice everything was, everything had felt entirely off. Wether it had been the same feeling of eyes on you at all times or the fact that the fauna here consisted of mainly reptiles that were unnaturally larger than what you imagined possible.
Which caused you to question what their diets may consist of to make them grow like that. All around, being here was just far too strange. Although, it appeared like the others hadn't noticed a thing.

"Ugh," Evelyn groaned, bringing you out of your thoughts. Her original upbeat manner had quickly died out the longer you four where out here. She moved a few strands of hair out of her face and glanced over at you. "Do you think now could be a good time to return? I mean, the rain still hasn't started, but it's extremely humid and all we've been able to see is reptiles and different types of plants for miles now. I can't imagine we'll find much else anytime soon."

At the mention of rain, you took a moment to glance up at the sky that still contained storm clouds. But she was right, with the lack of rain the air around you was thick and gross. Plus there really was no reason to keep venturing out today since night was approaching. And you didn't particularly want to stay out here without a flashlight at least.

Turning back to the ravenette, you finally gave a reply. "Yeah, it might be best to just go back now before it gets too dark."

Evelyn nodded thankfully and called out to Ophelia and Elias. Making sure they knew it was time to head back which you weren't too disappointed about.

That was when she had let out a shrill shreak at the other male. "Elias get away from that thing before it decides to bite you!"

Glancing past her, you were met with none other than Elias crouched down to get a closer look at what appeared to be yet another snake.

With that being said, he finally stood up and turned to her as the snake slithered off. "Would you stop worrying so much? It's not like that one was poisonous," he grumbled matter of factly.

"Is that really any better...?" She shook her head as he pushed past her without another word. Turning back to you and Ophelia, she motioned for you to follow her back the way you had come. "Let's just hurry and get back since he's clearly being an idiot."

You sighed, imagining the two would be one handful for the rest of the trip. If their bickering on the way back to boat was anything to go off of.

You were at least thankful that by the time you had reached the boat, the feeling of constant eyes on you had stopped. Though no matter how much you thought it would help to make you feel at ease, it didn't.. Instead it invoked a new sense of dread as the captain of the ship came back out onto the deck to ask a strangely daunting question.

"Have any of you kids seen your Professor?"
