A whole day had passed since Claus's family had settled into their new home in April. It was peaceful, it reminded him of better times before the events of the Pigmask Army. He waved that thought away, it was over. Today, he and Lucas were going to explore the village.
Lucas was already waiting for him at the door, accompanied by Boney. Hinawa had packed them both a little lunch for them to take in case they got hungry, even though Claus got embarrassed to carry around a lunchbox.
He ran down the stairs to join his twin brother and Boney, waved goodbye to their dear parents for the day, and went off to explore April. The city wasn't grand, in fact, before the time-shift, it seemed to still be a quaint town.
The twins made their way to a flea market buzzing with activity, where they saw some kids playing soccer. "Look, Claus!" exclaimed Lucas, "Do you think we could join them?"
"Soccer isn't really either of our sports, Lucas, remember when we tried to play with Fuel that one time?" Claus sighed. The twins remembered the time they tried to play soccer. Fuel had tried to score a goal by kicking the makeshift ball hard enough that it bounced off Lucas's forehead, which made him start crying.
They stopped playing soccer after that.
Lucas gave him a despondent look, then frowned ever further, "Do you think Fuel is okay? Maybe we'll be able to see him again someday? It would be nice to recognise someone here."
Boney whined and Claus squatted down to pet him, "I hope so.. I miss everyone from Tazmily. I want to apologise to everyone."
"You don't have to apologise, Claus! It wasn't your fault..." Lucas sat down next to him, before being interrupted by a tap on his shoulder.
"Excuse me?" came the voice of a young girl. Lucas looked up at her. She was blonde, like him, and wore a pink dress with her hair tied back with a ribbon. She had a sweet smile, but kept tapping his shoulder, "Excuse me, can I ask you two a question? Don't be scared by this question, I promise I can explain..."
"Huh..? Uh.." Lucas looked at Claus then back at the girl, "Okay."
"Do you know what PSI is?" the girl clasped her hands together.
Claus and Lucas stood up, and in twinly fashion both remarked, "You know what PSI is?!"
"Of course! My name is Paula Polestar. I'm a PSI user too, just like you two! I could sense a powerful aura coming from the both of you, just like my, er.., friend Ness. He lives in May. Maybe you two would like to meet him?"
Lucas and Claus looked at each other again and Claus shrugged, "I didn't know people here knew PSI... I guess it was a thing of the past too? I thought only the Magypsies knew PSI."
"Magypsies..?" Paula gave them a strange look, "Well... I don't know what that is, but apparently a long time ago, we learned PSI from these strange aliens from outer space! Or, that's what Ness's friend told me. Ness and his friend live in May, I said that already, so we'll have to take the train to visit them."
"Train?!" exclaimed Lucas, "Another one?"
Claus laughed a bit, "They're not that bad, Lucas, and these ones aren't ruled by some fat men in pig suits, I promise. Train rides are fun! Sure, Paula, we can visit your friends. Can we finish exploring April first, though? We just.. arrived." he nervously scratched the back of his head.
Paula grabbed the both of them excitedly, "Of course! I'll show you around. It's not every day we meet new people who can use PSI. Ness was the first one I met, of course, this was way before this time-shift business happened..."
She went on to talk a lot, showing them around the city of April. She showed them the theatre, a new array of houses, shopping departments, the twin hospitals, and then finally a cave leading off to a swamp.
