Shore why not?

Author's note: I need something wholesome to wash away my sins. And once again I can't kelp myself with the puns. For eel.

Also, this takes place sometime after 'Water you doing?'

It took some time for Three to get the hang of his new form. Especially with all the quirks mermaids had that he had no idea about. Like their sharp teeth, he learned that the hard way after an "Incident".

The couple have been swimming for a few weeks now. Looking for Four's old group, but the couple hasn't been having any luck. 

"Four, maybe it's best if we rest now." Three called out from the crevasse on where they had set up for the night.

"But I thought I saw someone. They have to been nearby." Three had noticed that Four has been antsy for the past few days and it's really starting to worry Three.

"Four, please." Three swam closer to his lover, touching his shoulder. 

Four melted right into Three's touch. "Ok." He said quietly.

The two made their way back to the crevasse. Snuggling up against each other for warmth.

"I'm sorry." Four looked away from Three.

"For what?" Three asked.

"For making you worry." Four squished in on himself, like a seal. "I don't to think that my friends think I'm dead."

Three gently kissed on the top of Four's head. "I'm here for you, ok?" 

Four suddenly felt really tired. "Okay." He said before closing his eyes and going to sleep.

Three woke up first. He saw a flash of red in the distance. Was that one of Four's friends?

He carefully made his way over there and hid. Peeking a little to see the sight in front of him.

A whole pod of mermaids were gathered around an old tire. 

"Look at thing from the human world!" The one with orange tail said. She lifted it up. "What do you think they used it for?"

"Maybe for carrying their young? I mean, it looks big enough to carry them." The one with the red tail suggested.

"What do you think X? What do you think humans used it for?" The pink one asked.

Three looked over to the mermaid with the green tail and noticed a few odd things about him. 

Firstly, X's fin ears seemed way bigger than the average mermaid, secondly, he had green scales going up across his arms and lastly, he had a tooth sticking out of his mouth.

X shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe humans used this to play with. Its simple design makes it easy to use." 

X's fins became still. He looked over to where Three was hiding.

'Oh crap!' Three swam his way back to the crevasse where Four was still sleeping. "Four. Wake up!"

Four turned around still very sleepy. "What is it?"

Three described the mermaids he saw to Four.

Four immediately perked up "That's them! Wait... Why did you run away?"

"I'm not the best at talking with new people." Three felt his face flush.

"That's okay! I'm just glad that you found them." Four grabbed Three's hand.

To Four, they were finally home.
