"An etiquette book? An etiquette book?! Who the hell does he think he is?! My father?!" Lilith stormed back and forth in the throne room.

Hermes popped his head into the throne room.

"So...how did it go?" Hermes asked. "Your meeting?"

"It went fantastic," Lilith mumbled, sarcastically. "What do you think, Hermes?! I have to marry that cretin after ten days or my kingdom will be demolished!"

"Why don't we tell everyone? I can announce a public gathering out front." Hermes said, proudly.

"No Hermes, that won't be necessary."

"Why?" Hermes asked, narrowing his eyes. "You're not actually attracted to prince Jason, are you? He's got a bad reputation when it comes to women, you know! Plus, he has such a toxic, negative view of peasants. He's a treacherous man, and he's no good for you."

"Oh shut up Hermes," Lilith snapped. "I just don't want any of my people to do anything irrational."

"Your people?" Hermes snorted. "Witch, they're MY people, too! In fact, they like me over you! May I remind you, everyone hates your guts! But don't you worry that pretty head of yours. I'm probably the only person who actually likes you here."

"Oh gee, that's so reassuring," Lilith rolled her eyes. How embarrassing was it for her, that her kingdom hated her guts!

She walked over to the throne, and slumped down in the seat.

Hermes strolled on over to her.

"Would you like a backrub to ease all that tension?"

Lilith looked at him, bewildered.

Was Hermes bipolar?

One minute he's insulting her, and the next minute, he's offering to comfort her.

Make up your mind, buffoon! Lilith wanted to shout but decided she didn't have the energy to fight with him.

"No thanks."

"Whatever," Hermes said, yawning. "Goodnight, then. Hope Astoria doesn't show up overnight and start killing everyone, and then kidnap you..."

Lilith balled her fists in anger.

Nitwit!

She badly needed a new attendant. This one was insane. And what he said, made her feel a little on edge.

Attendants are supposed to help their ruler out, not make them feel even worse.

He walked out, backwards.

So, he was facing her, while going towards the exit of the throne room. His flint black eyes bore into her emerald green ones. It was quite unsettling!

"Astoria is coming for us..." he said, in a chilly voice, placing one hand on the doorway. Then his voice turned cheerful. "Bye, for real!"

"Bye!" Fear inducing freak!

Lilith sighed and then she buried her head under her arms.

"Oh dad, what should I do?" She asked out loud.

Lilith wasn't too close with her father. Hence, it was hard for her to mourn. The only parental figure in her life was Anne. Anne was her maid for well over sixteen years.

However, right now, she was overseas, on vacation.

Servants weren't usually given vacations but Lilith had managed to convince her dad to give Anne a well deserved break.

What if Anne comes back...and sees dead bodies all over the kingdom?

Or something much worse!

Much worse than dead bodies lined on the streets? Hmm, is that even possible?
