I can't believe it; Jayden is back. The same guy who walked out of my life is back whom I'd thought I'd never see him again after that night.

He hasn't changed at all. Okay, that was a lie.

Is it even possible for someone who was already attractive to have a major glow-up? Because that was exactly what happened with Jayden.

The Jayden I knew was handsome, but the Jayden I saw last night? He was on a whole new level—like a burning furnace or a walking volcano.

I noticed he still hated wearing ties. He wasn’t wearing one last night, of course, and yet he looked incredible in all black.

And those grayish-blue eyes of his? It felt like they were boring straight into my soul.

What is wrong with you, Ashley? Did you forget everything he put you through?

A wave of anger suddenly rushed over me as I remembered the unfulfilled promises, the lies, and how he shattered my heart into pieces.

"Uh, Ashley, you look like you're about to snap that pen," Diana said, snapping me out of my thoughts.

I looked down and realized I was crushing my pen in my hand. Exhaling sharply, I dropped it and headed to the water dispenser.

"Ash, are you okay?"

"Me?" I gulped down the water in one go. "I’m fine. Do I look like I’m not okay?" I rasped as I threw the cup away.

"You’ve been acting weird all morning. Are you sure?"

"I’m okay," I said, forcing a smile.

She didn’t look convinced but thankfully didn’t push it further.

"Mr. Jacobs was happy with the turnout of the event on Saturday."

"Yeah, yeah," I muttered absentmindedly.

"Ashley, I get it if you don’t want to tell me what’s going on, but I need you to focus," she said, rubbing her forehead.

Get it together. You can’t let Jayden mess with your life again.

I took a deep breath.

"I’m sorry, Diana. I’ll focus now."

"Sir…"

I looked up at Jin, my assistant.

"I completed the research on the woman and the company," he said, handing me a file.

Finally.

"Took you long enough," I muttered, taking it from him.

Flipping it open, the first thing I saw was a picture of Ashley in a suit. Professional Ashley was beautiful - I mean she'd always been beautiful but this was a whole new her.
