Love's Hidden Gem

Year 20:

Vera and Jace walked hand in hand, their steps slow and hesitant as they approached Vera's house. Neither of them wanted to part ways just yet; the bond between them felt too strong to sever. They stood on the porch, their gazes locked, reluctance evident in their eyes.

Jace: (softly) I don't want this night to end, ayoko pa umuwi. Being with you feels so right.

Vera: (nervously) I feel the same way, Jace. It's like a piece of my heart is missing whenever we're apart.

Jace: (smiling) How about this? I'll pick you up tomorrow, and we can have a proper date, just the two of us.

Vera's face lit up with a bright smile, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.

Vera: I would love that, Mr. Officer!

Reluctantly, they released each other's hands, knowing they would be reunited soon. Vera walked inside her house, a radiant glow on her face catching her mother's attention.

Mama: (noticing Vera's smile) Vera, you seem especially happy tonight. Did something wonderful happen?

Vera's excitement was contagious, and she couldn't contain herself any longer. She moved closer to her mother, ready to share the news.

Vera: (bursting with excitement) Mama, you won't believe what just happened! Jace and I had a heartfelt conversation, and we both opened up about our deep feelings for each other. It was like the stars aligned, and we're now officially a couple, kami na Ma!... And I hope you're okay with Jace and me dating. His presence brings me so much joy, and I truly believe he's someone special, and being with him feels like coming home.

Her mother's eyes widened with surprise, followed by an outpouring of joy and support.

Mama: Vera, my dear, I've seen the way you two look at each other, and it's undeniable that you share something beautiful ever since you were kids. Your happiness means everything to me, and as long as he treats you with love and respect, I wholeheartedly support your relationship.

Papa, who had overheard their conversation, joined them, a smile playing on his lips.

Papa: Congratulations, Anak! Jace is a great young man, and I'm very happy for you!

Vera beamed with happiness, feeling the warmth of her parent's love and approval. But her father had one more request.

Papa: But I want you to bring Jace home tomorrow so we can have a chat, alright? I want to get to know him better.

Vera nodded, fully aware of the importance of her parent's approval.

Vera: Of course, Pa. Jace will pick me up tomorrow for our date, and I'll introduce him officially.

As they were engrossed in their conversation, Nate, Vera's brother, descended the stairs, overhearing snippets of their discussion.

Nate: Did I just hear the word "date"? Who's going on a date?

Vera turned to face Nate, a mischievous glint in her eyes.

Vera: Nate, guess what? Jace and I are going on a date tomorrow.

Nate, unaware that his sister and Jace were now officially a couple, couldn't resist teasing her.

Nate: Well, well, someone's being delusional again. Paalala ko lang, wala po kayong label!

Vera, unable to contain her excitement, couldn't help but deliver the surprising news.

Vera: Well, guess what? Meron na, sorry (wink)
