Serendipitous Reunion
Year 19:
Vera's heart fluttered as she boarded the vehicle with her family, her phone clutched tightly in her hand. She couldn't wait to share the news of her return with Jace, but she decided to keep it a secret for now. She wanted to surprise him, to see the look of astonishment on his face when they finally crossed paths. As their vehicle rolled along the familiar roads, Vera opened her chat window with Jace, a smile playing on her lips.
*Jace sent a message*
Jace: Good morning, Tofu!
Vera: Good morning, Mr. Officer! How's your day going so far?
Jace: Okay naman, it will be a busy day since may practical exams kami but I'm good. And knowing I get to chat with you makes it all worthwhile. How about you?
Vera: I'm great! Kaso mali ata tulog ko kagabi, ang sakit ng leeg ko ngayon ih :(
Jace: Having a stiff neck?
Vera: Yup!
Jace: Desurb! HAHAHAHA
Vera: Hoy, Santiago ang sama mo talaga! (rolled eyes emoji)
Jace: Just kidding! Tinulugan mo kasi ako kagabi kaya ayan, stiff neck ka ngayon (laugh)
Vera: Oy about that, I'm really sorry! Promise di ko yun sinadya, sobrang pagod lang talaga ko kahapon kasi nag ayos kami sa bahay nila Nate. That's why bagsak ang beshy mo HAHAHAHA
Jace: There's no need for you to say sorry Tofu! It's fine. Saka alam kong pagod ka, halatang halata naman dito...

In the image forwarded, Vera lay sprawled on the couch, her body weary and eyes closed in a deep slumber. Her mouth was slightly ajar, revealing the signs of a tiring day.
Vera: Wait, WHAT THE HECK! Where did you get that photo?
Jace: Nate sent it to me last night. I was so worried because you didn't reply or answer my calls, so I texted him. Then he sent me this, lol.
Vera: You and Nate really have a way to push my buttons.
Jace: That's because both of us love you so much!

Vera: Hoy ano yung unsent?
Jace: Nothing!
Vera: You're sus!
Jace: (laughing emoji) It's really nothing. By the way, I gotta go, Tofu. I need to prepare for my exam.
