Fulfilled Longing

Year 22:

Vera gazed out of her dorm room window, her heart pounding with anticipation. It had been two long years since she and Jace began their challenging long-distance journey. The physical separation had been tough, but their love had flourished, growing even stronger with each passing day.

As a Comarts student, Vera had immersed herself in her studies, while Jace, as a military student, had dedicated himself to rigorous training. Their lives were consumed by final projects, thesis preparations, and demanding schedules. Yet, amidst the chaos, they always managed to find a way to prioritize their relationship.

Vera sat on her bed, her laptop open in front of her. The screen displayed a video call with Jace, her beloved boyfriend.

"Hey, Jace," Vera greeted with a smile, adjusting her headphones. "How's it going over there?"

Jace appeared on the screen, dressed in his military uniform. His tired eyes lit up at the sight of Vera. "Hey, love," he replied, his voice filled with warmth. "It's been tough, but I'm hanging in there. Ikaw? How's everything at the university?"

Vera's face lit up with excitement as she leaned closer to the screen. "Oh, you won't believe the chaos here," she exclaimed. "Final projects, thesis preparations, and deadlines everywhere. Sobrang nakakapagod."

Jace chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Sounds intense. But I know you can handle it, Tofu. You've always been the one to rise above challenges."

Vera blushed, touched by his confidence in her abilities. "Thanks, Mr. Officer. Your support means everything to me. It's what keeps me going."

Jace's expression turned serious. "And you know you have mine, too. I may be far away, but I'm always here for you. Kahit anong mangyari."

Vera nodded, her eyes shimmering with love and gratitude. "I know, Jace. And that's what keeps me strong. Our unwavering commitment to each other is what makes this distance bearable."

As they talked, their conversation flowed effortlessly. They shared stories of their day, their dreams, and the challenges they faced. Each word was laced with understanding, strengthening the bond between them.

Vera leaned back, hugging a pillow to her chest. "I miss you, Jace," she confessed softly. "Sometimes, it feels like an eternity since we were together."

Jace's face softened, his eyes filled with longing. "I miss you too, Tofu," he whispered. "But we'll get through this. We're both chasing our dreams and when we finally reunite, it will be worth it."

Vera nodded, her heart filled with hope. "You're right, but I can't wait for the day when we'll be in each other's arms again."

The conversation continued late into the night, their laughter and whispered promises echoing through the virtual space.

During their breaks from university, Vera would eagerly return to their hometown to spend quality time with her family and, of course, with Jace. The anticipation built up every time, as Jace patiently waited for her updates and counted down the days until they could be together again. Each reunion was a testament to their enduring love, and their hearts would dance with joy at the sight of one another.

During their breaks from university, Vera could barely contain her excitement as she made her way back to their cozy hometown, longing to immerse herself in the comforting embrace of her loving family and, above all, to be reunited with Jace. The days leading up to their meeting were filled with eager anticipation, and Jace would often find himself patiently waiting for Vera's updates, their messages brimming with affection and longing.
