Atlas walked excitedly to Care of Magical Creatures with Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle. Atlas was a few paces ahead while Draco blabbed to his goons.

"C'mon, now, get a move on!" Hagrid called. "Got a real treat for yeh today! Great lesson comin' up! Everyone here? Righ', follow me!" He walked around the edge of the trees until they found themselves in a small field. "Everyone gather 'round the fence here!" Atlas was shaking with excitement. "Now, firs' thing yeh'll want ter do is open yer books-"

"And exactly how do we do that?" Draco asked. Atlas looked down at the monster book in his hands, wondering the same thing.

"Crikey. Didn' yeh know? All yeh've got ter do is stroke 'em." He took Atlas' book and stroked the spine. The book shivered and opened. "Righ' then, so- so yeh've got yer books an'- an'- now yeh need the Magical Creatures. Yeah. So I'll go an' get 'em. Hang on..." He walked into the forest. Atlas felt bad for Hagrid, seeing how nervous he was.

"God, this place is going to the dogs," Draco said. "That oaf teaching classes, my father'll have a fit when I tell him-"

"Listen you stupid prat-," Harry started, walking toward him.

Draco suddenly looked behind Harry with fear. "Dementor! Dementor!" He pointed. Harry jumped and looked behind him to find...nothing. The three Slytherins started laughing. They put their hoods up and wiggled their fingers. "Oooooh!" And began laughing again. Hermione pulled an embarrassed and angry Harry away.

Hagrid came back with his creature. It had the torso, hind legs, and tail of a horse, but the front legs, wings, and head of a giant eagle. Atlas stared at it in awe while the other students backed away in fear. "A Hippogriff!" Atlas beamed.

"Nerd," Draco mumbled. Atlas rolled his eyes, ignoring him.

"Righ' yer are, Lestrange. You sure know yer creatures," Hagrid said, throwing a ferret at the Hippogriff. Atlas smiled and nodded. "This 'ere is Buckbeak. Now, firs' thing yeh gotta know is they're proud. Easily offended, Hippogriffs are. Don't never insult one, 'cause it migh' be the las' thing yeh do."

Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle were whispering behind Atlas. "Shut up!" He whisper-yelled at them. Draco grumbled but reluctantly listened.

"Who wants ter come an' say hello?" Hagrid asked, looking at the students.

Atlas perked up and shuffled forward while everyone stepped back. "I'll do it!" He exclaimed, buzzing with anticipation.

Hagrid smiled at him. "Righ' then, you two, who wants ter go firs'?"

"Two?" Atlas wondered. He looked behind him and saw that Harry was in the front as well. Harry took a quick step back, but Ron pushed him forward. Atlas assumed he'd be going first.

"Alrigh' Lestrange, let's see how yeh get on with Buckbeak." Hagrid untied the Hippogriff from its chain. Atlas took a step toward Buckbeak and bowed down low. He looked up at the creature, who looked back at him with curiosity. It slowly took a step forward and bowed. "Well done! Yeh can touch him!"

Atlas eagerly walked up to him and patted his beak. Buckbeak leaned into his touch and closed his eyes. "Hi, buddy," He quietly cooed.

"Now Harry, let's see how yer do." Harry slowly walked forward. "Easy, now, Harry...Tha's it, tha's it, Harry. Now bow." Harry bowed and Buckbeak didn't move. "Righ', back away, now, Harry-"

All of a sudden, Buckbeak took a step forward and bowed. "Nice job, Harry! Go on an' touch him!"

Harry walked forward and held his hand out, still frightened. He patted his beak and quickly pulled away. Atlas took his spot and began to pet him again. The class applauded for them, even Draco, who only gave a half ass clap. Atlas was still smiling like an idiot.
