Steve's old camp, Karolina's old home.
She had been hiding out near Dr. Zola's computer sharpening her knife before she stopped all movements when she heard the first door open above.
Natasha and Steve walk in as they start to scout the place. They stopped at some frames of old pictures hung up on the wall.
"There's Stark's father."
"Howard."
Natasha looked over at Steve before following his longing gaze over to a picture of a woman.
"Who's the girl?" She asked with a small smirk teasing him.
He stayed quiet. Some broken glass was on the floor next to Peggy's picture, Karolina's picture used to be there. He missed them both so much. He was still adjusting to this new world. After all this time Steve never did discover what happened to Karolina. Her file had still been missing, the last time anyone in the old base saw it was when they all thought she went down with the rest of the ship he was in. Yet the year she got pushed back in was when they found him. No one would ever think to look twice.
He walked away showing no emotion, Natasha followed shortly after looking back one more time at the picture of Peggy.
Once they made their way down to the computer lab, Karolina kept an eye on them from afar. Natasha inserted the drive and the doctor appeared on the screen.
As the entire history was explained, flashes of old images filled the computer screens as some featured herself. The Widow Soldier with the Winter Soldier in one frame. Doctor Zola kept explaining until he didn't have to.
"I am afraid I have been stalling, Captain."
The next thing that happened.. the bogey hit. Karolina took cover before walking out of the rubble as dust and ash filled the surrounding air. She walked over to see if she could find the two. Karolina stepped out from behind a massive piece of plaster from the ceiling, she could hear both of their heartbeats as part of her was relieved the redhead was still alive but she couldn't figure out why. She hadn't felt much more than pain for the past couple of decades. Steve turned around and saw the dark figure as the clouds of ash still were in the air, he tried to blink it away but his vision was still a little bit clouded.
She pointed at the helicarriers about to pass over their heads. He stayed frozen for a second before rushing to get away from the carriers and away from the light. Natasha remained unconscious in his arms, Karolina's gaze lingered before they disappeared from her sight. Rumlow went to the middle where the bogey hit, Karolina joined his side "What happened, they gone?" Karolina gave him a simple nod before looking over at the other agents who immediately avoided her gaze. Rumlow touched his earpiece looking at the rubble.
"Call in the asset."
The Winter Soldier soon went to pay a certain someone a house visit. As for the Widow Soldier, the chase wasn't over just yet.
Steve had kept quiet about seeing the other figure. The only words escaping him were those between Natasha and Sam once they had found his house and were safe for the moment. "I'd like to know who I'm fighting."
He'd find out soon enough.
The next day.
As the Winter Soldier's metal arm crashed through the car window, the Widow Soldier looked over to see him get flung off the roof of the car. His hand scraped against the cement of the highway. She hung off the side of the Hydra truck holding on to the back. As Karolina got closer she aimed her gun, she had a direct hit to Steve's head which could quickly be a swift move to take out Sam on the other side. She was about to shoot before all three of them jumped out of the car that soon got totaled on the highway and crashed. Bucky then jumped onto the front of the truck she was on. They both held on until they jumped off of it.
