08:00-09:00 Breakfast and cabin inspections

I was lucky... sort of. I still had my usual cereal breakfast, Froot Loops today, my strawberry sacrifice. Smelling that clean ocean air, continuing my random thoughts, what today has in store. Anyway, when breakfast was over, I headed to the kitchen getting ready to wash the dishes, but I found Tantalus standing there, despite the lava, I felt the room get cold.

He put a hand on my shoulder. "You are released from your chores for the weekend, but the dishes and pavilion must still be cleaned after meals."

This turn of lucky events had me pretty suspicious.

As I cleaned, I was really thinking of the song 1985 and the only thing that came to mind was: mom.

... she never had it all... only been with one man, what happened to her plan?... looks at her average life and nothing has been all right...

I think my mom was about thirteen in 1985 and I think she was about 24 when she had me. I know it wasn't much of a comparison, but I couldn't help but think about her every time I listened to the song.

After I was finished with the pavilion, I went to polish my sword and shield. The only two weapons I haven't polished yet. A perfectly weighted blade. Bronze with a leather hilt. A sword and shield so polished I could see my reflection in them.

"Is that your sword and shield?" A voice behind me questioned.

"No Connor," I said sarcastically. " I'm polishing someone else's sword and shield that happens to look exactly like mine."

He smirked, crossing his arms. "I think you need to do an anime magical girl transformation every time you activate it."

"If you don't shut the fuck up, you'll be the first and last person to witness that anime magical girl transformation." I was laughing with every word, "This is not a threat of violence." Then suddenly my voice became serious. "This is a promise." Yes, I did just extravagantly threaten to kill him.

He put his hands up in surrender. "Gods Molls, calm down. I was just joking."

"I was just joking." I mocked.

"Well, I have some piece of news you might like, but it seems like you're in a bad mood so I'll leave you."

"No I wanna hear! What is it?"

He sat next to me. "So Travis and I were doing some favors for some people. You know how it goes, list, price, time, yada yada."

"Right." I nodded.

"So, as we were getting the goods, I saw Travis staring at this one girl at the register."

"Where are you going with this?"

"So the girl's name is Courtney-"

"Courtney? Is she that girl with a Britney Spears or Madonna concert or album oversized shirt like every other day? Straight short brown hair cut in a bob with like shaggy bangs, that Courtney?"

Connor leaned in, amazed, he said. "You actually know her?"

I shrugged, "Just her face and name. So far I've never met a bigger Britney Spears or Madonna fan."

He shook his head. "Anyway, back to my story. So Travis was staring at her, when we got to the register because we didn't want to look too suspicious, I noticed Travis left a note. Before he could notice, I snatched the note and" he produced something from his pocket. I'm going to assume the note. "I took the note."
