“I heard that there are capable men, who are naturally unafraid of magic and can even effortlessly scale cliffs covered with arcane traps. I thought that it was merely a story, but that doesn’t seem to be the case now.” The Emperor of Gotham mused aloud, intrigued by the rumours he had heard. He leaned forward in the chair, his eyes gleaming with curiosity. “I wonder if these men possess some sort of ancient knowledge or unique abilities that allow them to defy the powers of magic.”

It was in the middle of the night, but the study room was still brightly lit. Sitting at the desk and covered in a night robe, the man who owned the Empire took a look at his uninvited guest and put his pen back in the pen holder, looking calm and composed, making the assassin almost think that he had walked into a trap. The Royal Palace Guards didn’t appear, though. Because he had already destroyed automatic security alarms and traps as silently as possible. A sharp blade was placed on the Monarch’s neck; that noble head could be cut off with just a single swipe.

The assassin himself was slightly nervous, he couldn’t hold back the doubts in his heart. He had meticulously planned every detail for this mission, but quietly uncertainty crept in. “You don’t look surprised,” the assassin observed with an eyebrow raised, “Don’t you wanna know who’s goin’ to kill you?”

‘A Western Accent.’

“Your skill has brought up several candidates I’m disinclined to share, and as for the dying, it isn’t much help knowing who the murderer would like to know who can sneak into the safest place in the whole.” The Emperor pondered.

“I’m not a famous person,” The sword-man commented nonchalantly.

The Emperor chuckled a deep and resonant sound that emanates from his throat, carrying a hint of amusement, his eyes glinting with intrigue, “An man, skilled enough to navigate through the impenetrable defenses of my Wayne Palace, who can bypass the fortress, the bronze and iron walls made by the mages, and the Imperial Guards. Your anonymity will be your greatest advantage.”

“You could’ve never heard my name,” scoffed the assassin.

“Indeed, there are not many famous people in my Empire.” The Emperor nodded, “My enemies are all over the world, but I don’t think I have treated the people harshly-”

“‘Never treated us, ‘harshly’?” exclaimed the assassin, “For five years, do you know how many of our people have been involved in this war by you!”

Ah, a Mid-Western Person, it is then.’

“The Midwest Civil War lasted for three years, six months, two weeks, and four days. Your King asked me for help. My Imperial Army spent half a year suppressing the rebellion. After the Civil War, your King swore allegiance to me and volunteered to bring his army into the Imperial War. If you are loyal to your old king, then you shouldn’t contempt me.”

The assassin’s frustration grew as he listened to the Emperor’s speech. He couldn’t help but feel a pang of resentment towards the old King for neglecting his subjects. However, he knew better than to voice his thoughts and kept his emotions hidden beneath a stoic expression. “I serve no one but my interests,” the assassin replied, his voice laced with a hint of coldness. “And if the Emperor fails to prove himself worthy of my loyalty, I will not hesitate to act accordingly.”

“...It can be seen that you don’t have a good impression of the Royal Family,” the Emperor concluded after a little pause.

“They are absurd. You’re nothing great either.” The assassin retorted.
