War of Unification part 3: Carathian campaign

  -imperial camp, Carathian deserts-

In his tent, Naruto looked over at the number of troops he commanded, the tanks and vehicles, the aircraft and the map of Carathia. The nation of Carathia, who's capital was Decapolis or the Ten Cities, was the next front of his army group. The country was mostly a big desert and very few strategic locations to take. To make it even more difficult for Naruto, his troops were exhausted and he was running low on supplies. He and the major general were discussing how to best deal with the Carathian campaign with so limited supplies.

''The two legions which we have sent should be enough for dealing with the Carathian army here in this city.'' the major general told Naruto. ''However, we are still running low on supplies. Our supply chains are secured and much needed food and ammunition is coming but we cannot wait for too long.''

''Sir, my prince, the commanders wish for a tactical retreat as a second Carathian attack force has suddenly appeared.'' a lieutenant told the two leaders of the campaign.

''Then what are you waiting for? Tell them to retreat!'' the major general shouted and the lieutenant got out. ''It's better if we lose some unimportant ground rather than valuable men.''

''Agreed.'' Naruto said to the major general. Despite being the prince and superior, the major general was more experienced and the decision making was upto him. ''Tell me what your honest opinions and thoughts, General Guderian. What do you think is our best options?''

''Hard choices, my prince.'' the major general replied. ''We can win in battles and skirmishes. Carathia hasn't recovered from the late king Rhaegar's rampage years back. I think... hmmm let me think... we can try this plan: we will attack the cities to cut off the Decapolis. The refugees will pour into the Decapolis and it will be forced to deal with over-crowding, food shortages and lack of supplies. You, my prince, along with your female servants will then disguise yourselves as fleeing civilians and infiltrate the Decapolis. You can then sabotage their cannons, destroy bases, docked ships and the shield generator. That will be the most difficult part of your mission. If you succeed, and I know you will, then history will remember us as the first to take the legendary Ten Cities.''

''Excellent planning, general. How tough is the shield generator, exactly?'' Naruto asked.

''I see you learned from your past mistakes, my prince.'' the major general remarked and they both chuckled a bit. ''Able to withstand 1/3 the power of an atom bomb or so theorized. The generator, not the shield it generates. You undoubtedly have the power to destroy it but it will take a considerable amount of time. And do not forget to destroy the wall defenses and fighters, ground units and warships, my prince. The Decapolis is like an impenetrable fortress.''

''I underestimated my opponents before, general. I thought that only the likes of Orochimaru, Jiraiya, the Hokages and Itachi needed planning. But the knights of the west are strong, much stronger than anticipated. Q'anah would be enough to give every jonin in the Leaf, even my old teacher, a hard time. I won't make that mistake again.'' Naruto said with a slight angry tone. ''What's the progress of the other fronts, general?''

''A lot better than we anticipated. So much so, we didn't believe it ourselves.'' the major general answered. ''We had to check and re-check it again just to be sure there was no mistake. Grand General Rukossovsky's advances seem unstoppable, my prince. The southern front is also going just as well. The commanders of Meschek are doing well and the Grand General's son is also winning major victories. He already won nine battles and much of Satharyo is under Magog's control.''

''It is good to hear that, general. To see how far we have come in the bigger picture.'' Naruto commented. ''Once Daemon returns, we can put the plan into action.''
