PRESENT
ALEKSANDR
"What did you do, Gwen?" The man standing by Emi's side widened his eyes - whether in fear or shock, I couldn't say. "Ya... ya nichego ne delal, boss!" He exclaimed.
The hesitation in his voice revealed his lie, although Emi's explanation contradicted my suspicion.
Upon returning to Moscow tonight, I encountered Emiliano, who informed me about Genevieve's whereabouts and the events of the day.
From what I heard, Genevieve was at Vittoria's with her friend Val. When Emi arrived there for business, he saw Gwen and his brothers surrounding the girls. Then, when he called out for Gwen, the man was immediately infront of him. Emi inquired about the situation, and Gwen claimed they were merely talking to Genevieve and Val.
Emi remained skeptical. He found Genevieve in the restroom and asked her about the incident. She insisted that nothing had occurred, despite the anger evident in her eyes. Emi had no choice but to believe her.
Anger. Genevieve was furious.
That's what disturbed me.
"Are you implying you didn't interact with our clients tonight?" I approached Gwen, towering over him. He gulped and shook his head. "We only talked, boss. I could swear on my mother's name."
My gaze turned icy. "What if you're lying?" I gritted. "I- I am not. Please, trust me, boss." Turmoil etched his face; turmoil echoed in my mind.
Genevieve was angry. She was angry. She was angry.
"What if I ask her? What if I question Genevieve about your actions, Gwen?"
Suddenly, determination flickered in his eyes. "You wouldn't trust her over me, boss." I would have killed him for the insolence to talk the words out loud, if not for his years of loyal service.
Still, I almost wanted to laugh. There's no way I'm not trusting Genevieve. If anything, she does not lie.
"What if I do?" I queried. This time, he seemed taken aback. He hadn't anticipated my question. "Then, I hope she doesn't lie," he responded promptly.
I almost smiled at his audacity. Sad thing, I wasn't amused, neither pleased.
"You'd better hope she lies, Gwen," I pressed, smirking slightly as his expression crumpled, revealing the fear from earlier. Good, that's what I want. "You wouldn't live otherwise."
Regardless of Genevieve, Emi, or Gwen's statements, my gut indicated something had happened. And where there's smoke, there's fire.
I left, dismissing Emi and Gwen before returning to my bedroom.
As tempting as it was to think about sweet Genevieve's anger, I needed sleep now. Arousing over such matters wouldn't bring me pleasure. At least, not for the moment.

GENEVIEVE
I thought I was hallucinating for a moment when I looked out the window and saw an SUV parked near my yard. Because, there was no way Aleksandr would be here today.
