PAST
ONE YEAR AGOGENEVIEVE
"Are you going to have breakfast?" I asked, sitting up in my bed lazily, with a pair of curious eyes looking up at the ethereal man in front of me.
His gaze found mine through the mirrors, his hand busy buttoning up the shirt he wore. A slight smile spread across his lips. "Is that a suggestion or an order, dorogaya?" I was taken aback by his sudden question, completely flabbergasted.
This man had numerous ways of making me speechless. One of them was his laugh, which he'd shown after seeing my unblinking face, full canines on display, and a hearty sound that could bewitch anyone. Golds of sunlight veiled the emerald green of his eyes, making them shine brightly like crystal.
"What if it's a suggestion?"
"Then, I'd have to refuse."Okay. He's a busy man after all. Given the early hour he was getting ready to leave in such a hurry, I had assumed it was probably important.
However, my curiosity did get the best of me sometimes. "And... if it's an order?" The words slipped through my lips before I could stop them.
Aleksandr turned around. A glint of mischief flickered in his eyes, clearly amused by my question, while I controlled the urge to facepalm myself.
"How would I dare refuse then, dorogaya?" I got down from my bed, mentally noting that I wouldn't ask this type of question to this man again, because his replies are not good for my heart at all.
After fixing my bed, I turned around and did my best to avoid his eyes before taking steps outside the room, leaving him behind. "I'll make breakfast. You can join if you want."
"That's a suggestion, baby." I rolled my eyes, hearing his voice followed by a little laugh from inside. "Whatever." I grumbled before making my way towards the kitchen and pulling out some ingredients for breakfast from the refrigerator.
I was making us syrniki, the only thing I'm good at making for breakfast.
I hadn't realized when Aleksandr was entering the kitchen. Startled, I turned my gaze and found him standing beside me, his gaze serene as he carefully watched me making breakfast.
"I'm not the best chef and all, but I hope you don't puke." I noted with mischief. He smiled in return, "Here I was hoping for the best breakfast of my life," His dramatic sigh only made me shake my head. "But it's alright. We've got good taste elsewhere, no?"
Heat rushed through my body. "Stop. Aside from murdering people, this wouldn't be your favorite job." My voice was as hoarse as a desert when I said that, and it was not only because I was thirsty for some water.
"What favorite job?"
"Flirting with women."
"But I am good at it, aren't I?"
"No."
He is very damn good at it. But never would I ever say it in front of his face. "Well, your face says otherwise-"
"Breakfast is ready!" I said with a little more force, causing my voice to come out as a shout. I felt my face almost burning.
I served the plates on the table. Aleksandr, who stood behind me, unable to see my face for now, chuckled. Then he came forward and sat on the chair in front of me. Surprisingly, we had our breakfast in silence.
