PAST
ONE YEAR AGOGENEVIEVE
In a heartbeat Aleksandr was coming towards my direction, his movement slow and lazy. With each steps he took, my heartbeat intensified.
The girls behind me were gasping, still in thought that the man was going towards them. But their excitement died the moment he stopped right infront of me, his warmth infilling me despite him being standing approximately a feet away from me.
Heat burned beneath the serenity of his green eyes. I felt Val's eyes almost eating the man up when he smiles down at me. "Privet," He said. Just like the first night here when I met him.
And I blushed for no reason. "Hi." I said, pulling my hair strands behind my ear.
"Hold up!" Val suddenly shouts, making me startle. Alelsandr's eyes found hers this time, giving her a little smile out of formal gesture. But somehow, I sensed a hint of annoyance behind his polite smile, as if he didn't find the interruption anything interesting. "Have we met each other before?" Val asks, however, her eyebrows raised.
"Have we?" Aleksandr asks in back and then trails off, "I don't remember."
I couldn't say if he was purposely lying to avoid conversations with her or had he actually didn't notice her that time when Andrea showed up to make peace with her and almost tried to maul me.
The latter one was less convincing though.
"Oh." Val says, but her eyes held suspense. Yet, she turns her face to me afterwards and a smirk appeared on her face. My heart thumped.
No. She doesn't know.
"I'll go to the restroom for a sec. Be right back!" Before I could say anything in reply, she rushed out, quickly sending me a wink in process.
I don't know if I should be shocked or laugh.
Looking up at Aleksandr again, I found his eyes already on set mine, completely unbothered. I blink few times before proceeding to speak up, "She's Valentina. My best friend."
How cool that my friend didn't even know how to introduce herself before throwing me to a stranger's arm. Well, from her perspective, Aleksandr is a stranger to me.
"I see." He says nonchalantly before taking the seat infront of me, the one that was occupied by Val before.
"So, to what do I owe the pleasure?" To my question, he only smiles.
"I saw you, I came." It was my turn to smile this time.
"You're at Vittoria's Venue for which reason?"
It was not my place to inquire him about his personal matters, but I was merely curious. "Which answer do you want?" He asks in return, eyeing my appearance in the process. His gaze travelled from my face down my neck, to the cut of my cleavage as he caught a bead of sweat running down within. Then it lingered down to admire my dress, and then to my exposed thighs.
