PRESENT

ALEKSANDR

Seated beside me was a distraction - a distraction in a red dress.

When Genevieve opened the door of her house tonight, I had to restrain both my hands and mind from moving closer to her and kiss the sweet red of her lips.

The hazel of her eyes felt like fire; she looked like fire - a beautiful woman in my arms, ravishing yet untouchable.

"When are we leaving?" asked Genevieve from beside me. I turned my head toward her and gave her a slight nod, "Soon, I hope."

It was close to the end of the event. Both she and I felt bored by now. Though at first, she seemed interested in looking around, catching glimpses of everyone and everything. Then, when she was done, her mood changed. Hours had already passed afterward.

"Okay, let's go." I stood up in the middle of the show, catching the eyes of a few people, while the others were busy looking at the show on the stage. Genevieve looked up at me in surprise, "What?" Her eyes roamed elsewhere, probably trying to see if someone was watching us.

"Aren't you bored?" I spread my hand towards her, "We can go if you want." She blinked up at me. "But is that alright?" Both confusion and anxiety appeared on her face.

I smiled, "If you want to go, we can go. It's as simple as that, baby." She tried to look annoyed for a second, "You can't just leave from here whenever you want to."

Ah, formalities, sweet Genevieve's favorite.

"Let's see." With that, I pulled her up on a whim and led her to the back. She gasped, "Aleksandr!" I smirked. "It's nice to hear my name from your mouth." Flirting is a good way to distract her.

"It's rude," she exclaimed. By the time we were already somewhere devoid of people, I let go of her hand and gestured for her to follow me. "No, it's not. I'll stay here for however long I want to."

"Still rude."

"Thank you."

As we headed outside, I pulled open my car door for Genevieve. She sent me a glare. In return, I winked her way, then she got inside, and I closed the door.

"They're not going to scold you or something, are they?" She asked as soon as I got inside my car. I almost laughed before gazing at her, "What do you think, dorogaya?"

There was a moment of pause. She stared at me in disbelief. I held her stare with a hint of playfulness, biting back my smile. She huffed afterward, the back of her head resting on the headrest. "You're insane."

I only chuckled in response before starting the engine and driving off.

"I know."

Most of the ride with Genevieve was silent. But today's felt weird. It seemed like she was anticipating something.

She always had that look of curiosity plastered over her face, but today's felt more intense.

And I wanted to know what was going on in her mind today.

"You're distracted, dorogaya," I said, more like demanded. At my words, she turned to look at me. "I'm not," she muttered after a moment.
