As seen previously about an individual who is been trapped in a cell is unable to leave it and explore the world. The same way how each one of us are living and have been trapped. The simple solution to the above example is the prisoner can confess his crimes so that his due punishment can be reduced to less following years. But it can only happen if the prisoner can realize his mistakes or the crimes which he has committed.
Humans perform things which they are not actually aware of. The only way is to 'escape'. Escape doesn't mean to give up here rather it means to escape the casual way of not knowing yourself or who you are. For instance, if a one-year-old baby wanted to reach his mother who is standing a few metres away. What's the best possible way the baby would do. He would crawl with his knees to reach his goal which is meeting his mother. Jumping to conclusions of who we are is something which causes false ego. The possible way to do is crawl. If we want to know thy then one should be curios and start crawling towards the goal.
The maya is designed in such a way that only a wise man knows he is trapped and can escape. Many people give many ideas regarding on how to escape but the best possible way out is known to a devotee. Devotee means one who worships and serves the Lord. A way to escape this illusion (maya) lies within a devotee's heart. Those individuals who worship the lord can turn oneself into a devotee. According to the Vedas, a devotee is also called a 'bhakta' means one who worships the lord whole heartedly. By this way one can escape the clutches of maya which is trying to hold an individual.
To reach the true potential or to know and understand thy self, one needs to understand the path of devotion. For centuries the practice of serving and worshipping the lord is a common practice in India. This can be mentioned as the crawling stage to know human existence. Indians are already on the verge of understanding and escaping the material world. As we Indians visit holy shrines, pay our respects to the deity and take blessing from the lord. 'Blessing' is a form of energy given by a higher authority to succeed a given task. For example, people say this child is blessed or this child is talented which can be interpreted as the energy particles or waves received from the lord. Simplifying in a normal perspective is when you adjust the radio channel to get the favoured station and when the frequency is matched to the respected station, you can hear the song. The same can be applied to the lord or the Supreme God giving blessings to achieve the task.
Escaping is not easy as it looks because our mind is so powerful that we listen to the commands of the mind. Many neuroscientists are still trying to understand our complex brain so that we can know how to use it in right way and reach its full capability. Humans hardly use 15 percent of their brains because we still don't know what power it holds. Genius ones or the individuals with high IQ can store things for a longer duration as compared to normal individuals. They can be best described as inborn talent which they have genetically acquired. The more we dive into the concept of mind the more convoluted it becomes. To keep it simple "the one who controls his thoughts, the mind acts as its friend and for those who cannot control it, the mind acts as an enemy". This line is taken as a reference from the holy book 'Shrimad Bhagwat Gita'. Humans can escape this material world by following certain rules mentioned in this book.
The threads of maya can be described as an individual who sits in his car with his seat belt worn. When the individual has arrived his destination if he is unable to let go of that seat belt then how can he get out of his car. The same way maya acts upon us. Maya is so compelling to let go of an individual from its thread. The car which the individual rides represent his life, the seatbelt as maya and the mirrors of the car as the guiding principle which directs the person.
The pathway that the individual needs to follow which is one of the most practical ways to breakout the illusion factor is the path of a devotion. Now how can we busy people with 9-5 job have time for this. The solution for this is whatever you do just offer it to the lord be it not physically but spiritually too. This thing might leave you in a confused state because how is it possible to offer it to the lord. The thing is "remembrance" of whichever deity whom your more favoured and have liking too. Be it doing tiny things to writing a competitive exam or having your food.
