No Promises-Cheat Code

-

No promises. No promise for forever. No wedding bells. Chris hadn't wanted any eternal with anyone. It just wasn't realistic. But as the weeks passed by and he spent the days waking up to Jeongin on his chest and in his arms, he broke a promise he made to himself. The promise to not fall so in love that he became a child.

He didn't want to say till death do them part even if it was a reality. He didn't know when his thought process had changed. Maybe it was when Jeongin stole his hoodie and hid himself away in it and Chris was struck with the thought of him one-day getting away. Perhaps watching Selena and Alex set up their wedding in New York had rocked his mind. Whatever the case, he broke his promise.

He wanted forever this time around. Even if Jeongin ended up in the sky someday, he wanted him and no one else. He realized he had settled for Vivian. He had been satisfied. But he hadn't loved her. Not truly. They would have been content and happy, but it would have never been the marriage of a lifetime.

In another life they probably would have never met. That thought reminded him of soulmates. Maybe he was sick in the head with delusion. Perhaps Jeongin and his marks had meant nothing all along and god could care less about pairing two humans together. Chris wanted to believe that their little fox and kangaroo brought them together. Even if they weren't a reason to stay, at the very least they pushed them together.

Chris let the inner-conversation simmer as Alex grabbed Selena by the waist and tipped her backward, their lips locking in a passionate kiss. He laughed and clapped his hand along with the audience full of friends and family. Alex was such a show-off. He glanced at Jeongin who was smiling wide at his two friends, hands tucked into the pockets of his black suit pants.

He looked ravishing. An entrancement conjured up from a witches hands. His hair slicked over with gel drove Chris' heart mad. It was easily his favorite of the styles the younger had sported over the past few months. Their eyes met and he smiled when he noticed Jeongin's widen. He mouthed I love you and the younger returned it.

Alex picked up Selena bridal style and carried her down the aisle, Chris and Jeongin-the best men, which made no sense, but hey, they were a strange couple those girls-following them out.

"This is so awkward," Jeongin mumbled through a tight smile as he sent waves to their friends who were laughing at them.

"Imagine how Alex feels. No wonder she darted."

Jeongin constrained a laugh well enough not to look like he'd keel over of a heart attack and they slipped out of the large opening. Selena and Alex were giggling at each other, sharing cute kisses. Chris sighed and told them he was going to fix up anything that needed to be reconsidered in the hall where the after party would be held. Jeongin stayed back until the girls were ready to go.

They shared cringey toasts and Jeongin gave his heartwarming speech about meeting Selena and then taking an abrupt trip to Canada. He left out the part about them sleeping together and that Chris had been the reason he dissapeared into the cold temperatures. He did add, for a comedic effect, that Selena had stolen Alex from him, but that he'd have it no other way.

Then Selena and Alex slow danced and all the younger could do was stand there boiling over with pure happiness. He smiled so hard his face blushed with pink. It didn't help that Selena had pulled him in for a dance after her father took a turn. He could see Chris among their friends pouting as he sipped his drink. Obviously he wanted to be in her place.
