In perfect sync, Meg and I battled the remaining Hellhounds, dispatching them with finality. I wielded my knife and employed my magic with dexterity and precision, though it proved insufficient to vanquish them entirely. It was Meg who delivered the decisive strikes, ending their existence. With a bit of effort, she extracted the blade from the fallen hellhound, visibly swaying as the toll of the fight weighed upon us both.
"I'm in desperate need of a vacation," I managed to utter, my body pulsating with exhaustion and pain. Fresh bite marks adorned my battered and blood-soaked clothes, evidence of our valiant efforts to hold off the hounds for the Winchesters.
"So," Meg began, taking a breath to regain her composure. "Which one?" She briefly turned her gaze toward me, but I realised that I promised her that I would reveal which one I slept with if we survived this ordeal. A chuckle escaped my lips involuntarily, quickly stifled by a wince as the bruises reminded me of my ongoing healing process.
"Fair enough," I finally replied as we proceeded towards the intersection of the hallway. Suddenly, without warning, a fierce punch connected with Meg's face, catching her off guard and causing her to tumble to the ground with great force. I gasped, raising my left hand to retaliate, but before I could take action, my hand was seized by another, preventing any immediate response. I turned my head sharply to find myself face-to-face with a demon, his eyes consumed by darkness. His grip over my mouth suppressed my attempts to speak, while my futile kicks proved powerless against his unyielding hold. Before I could resort to non-verbal magic, another demon materialized in front of me, swiftly snatching the ring from my left hand. I attempted to scream, only to have my voice muffled by the demon's hand.
I felt my own magic rapidly draining. Squirming in the demon's grip, everything blurred before my eyes, and in an instant, we were transported to another location within the building. The demon who had taken my ring opened a cell door, while the one restraining me forcefully marched us forward before hurling me into the cell. I tumbled and landed on my elbows, with the sound of the bars locking behind me. Swiftly, I pushed myself up, ready to confront my captors. However, as I spun around, the demons had vanished, and instead, Crowley stood before me, holding up my clear quartz ring.
"Impressive," he remarked, his eyes observing the tiny piece of jewellery. "A powerful little thing," his gaze met mine. "But not powerful enough." In an instant, the ring ignited, consumed by flames, and vanished from his grasp, leaving only a smouldering residue. He lowered his hand to his side.
"I was just a diversion," I spat at him, but he merely chuckled, as if he had anticipated it all along.
"Your lover boys are locked in cells just like this one," Crowley declared, and I could sense the truth in his words. "Grandpapa sold them out, and come morning, they'll be nothing more than scat beneath my shoe," he took pleasure in the prospect of toppling the famous Winchesters. "As for you, my dear... I haven't quite decided. You may prove useful," a wicked smirk played upon his lips. I clenched my jaw, seething with anger, and lunged forward, intent on throttling him. Yet, an invisible force jerked me back, stopping me just inches from the cell bars. Frustration welled within me as I realized I was trapped in a devil's trap.
