My eyes snapped open, revealing Lisa's home. Though I'd never been there before, it radiated a sense of warmth and comfort. It reminded me of Sam's apartment with Jessica—cosy, inviting, and filled with love. I took a few steps forward, the click of my boots echoing softly against the wooden floor. My gaze was drawn to the photographs lining the walls—snapshots of Lisa and Ben. Baby pictures, moments of him growing up, birthdays captured. Each one told a story of their life together, and I couldn't help but admire her strength as a mother. She had done it all alone, raising Ben without any help from his father, and it was clear how much love and dedication had gone into every moment.

In the reflection of the photo, I noticed Lisa's figure appear behind me. "Hello, Lisa," I said softly, my tone gentle as I turned on my heels to face her.

"You're one of them," she said, her voice laced with both fear and seething hatred.

"I am," I admitted calmly. "But I'm also not," I added quickly, cutting off any response she might have had. Her head tilted slightly, a frown forming as she tried to make sense of my words.

"What do you mean?" Lisa asked cautiously, her eyes narrowing as she studied me, ready to strike if I made a move she didn't like.

"I'm half-demon, half-human," I admitted, keeping my tone steady. I chose not to overwhelm her with more details—like the fact that I was also a witch—figuring that was more than enough for her to process for now.

"Dean wouldn't even..." Her words trailed off as she continued to scrutinize me, her expression a mix of confusion and unease. It was clear there were things Dean had kept from Lisa, likely to shield her from the darker truths of our world.

"I'm the only thing keeping you alive right now," I said, my tone calm despite the sharpness of my words—I didn't want to scare her. "I'm doing it for him." The words came out harsher than I intended, and I winced inwardly, knowing they might not land the way I meant them to.

Lisa narrowed her eyes, her gaze scrutinizing me as if weighing the truth behind my words. "You care for him," she finally deduced, her tone quiet but certain.

"I do," I admitted, the words slipping out before I could even think of spinning them to my advantage. They came out raw and honest, leaving no room for denial. "We've been through so much together. And seeing you dead, leaving Ben without a mother, would destroy him." My voice was steady, filled with conviction and the raw truth.

"I thought demons were supposed to be evil and not care about humans," Lisa shot back, clearly trying to categorize me with the demons she knew—the malice, the deceit.

"I could be wearing you like a suit, speaking to Dean, acting like everything's fine," I said, my voice steady. "But that's wrong." The truth hung in the air—technically, I could be awake, interacting with the others as if nothing were amiss. But I knew it would tear Dean apart, and hurt her son the most. "You really don't know how much you mean to him," I said quietly, the words slipping out as if she had no idea just how deep his love ran or how far he would go for her—and for Ben.
