Barcode

This will be our last rehearsal together for KinnPorsche.

The thought felt surreal to Barcode.

While the other cast members conversed excitedly about their plans to celebrate the momentous occasion, the young man stares aimlessly into his gym bag.

It had been four days since Jeff was forced to admit he was keeping a secret from him and for four days the couple found themselves locked in a stalemate.

The communication barrier between them was foreign and painful to Barcode. After all, Jeff had always been his greatest source of stability and support in the entertainment industry. Who was he supposed to talk to when the problem involved Jeff himself?  It wasn't like he could causally ask his relatives or friends for relationship advice. His relationship with Jeff still wasn't public.

But Barcode wanted answers Jeff refused to give.

He was tired of being asked to wait when he knew the answer could change the dynamic of their relationship forever.

Despite the boy's numerous attempts at extracting the truth their nights together always ended the same way.

Yelling, crying, and sex.

Perhaps making Barcode cry out in ecstasy temporarily subsided Jeff's guilt for making the boy cry in the first place. It was an act that somehow allowed the two of them to transform their negative emotions into pleasure. No matter how angry or frustrated the two felt with one another the compatibility of their bodies was undeniable. If perfection existed, he knew he had found it in Jeff's arms.

But outside of the bedroom, his mind wandered.

What secret could Jeff possibly be keeping from him that involved his work contract? Based on his previous text messages with Pond, he was nervous to know how the news would impact Barcode.

Could Pond be assigning Jeff a new partner?

The thought made him feel nauseated. It made sense... Too much sense.

Why else would Jeff be so curious to know how Bible felt after Build's departure? Was Jeff trying to prepare himself for how Barcode would handle the news of him changing partners?

"Barcode?"

Ta waves his hand in front of Barcode's face with a frown. The rambunctious young man didn't often call him by his first name unless he was beginning to feel concerned. Judging by Ta's worried expression Barcode assumes he's been spaced out for more than a few minutes.

"I'm sorry," Barcode exhales.

"I've said your name like five times now," Ta states, crossing his arms. "Are you sure you're okay?"

Barcode chuckles in an attempt to mask his growing anxiety. It was hard to smile when he felt like he was about to puke.

"I'm sorry...I didn't mean to space out like that."

Ta releases a sigh, elbowing Barcode in his side.

"Jeff's right." He retorts. "You really do apologize too often.

"I'm sor-" Barcode flinches, biting his lower lip to stop himself from repeating the word.

Ta rolls his eyes.

"You're fine, Tinnasit. I'm just worried about you." He admits, "I've hardly seen you outside of rehearsals these past few weeks. What have you been up to?"

Barcode scratches the side of his face sheepishly at the question. The only thing he's been up to outside of rehearsals is...

Jeff.
