I clung to Lou, shuddering from cold but more from fear. I swear that doctor could be anywhere, and even in the group I swear I felt his creepy pleased smile as he eyed me for victim. For experiment.

"The movie isn't real, Bel!"

"He's here I know it!" Niall laughed as I jumped when Liam whistled. They were all amused for little varying reasons, but all I could feel was my stomach curdling in fear.

"I'm sure it was a fictional movie, babe." Louis held a serious tone, and tried to coax me away from just stopping on the sidewalk, eyeing a bush shrouded in black, but something too big was scuffling around in there. He gently tugged on my shoulders, singing to me softly, but even in the wake of pulling myself away something rustled in another.

"He's onto me!"

"911 is a fast number to dial." Louis came closer, his warmth enveloping me. "I won't let him get you anyhow." He kissed my jaw softly. I still stood rigid, willing the sick man to reveal himself to us. Lou would believe me then! Demanding for the precious treasure we held so sacred. To play with, experiment with like it wasn't a life to be lived!

"C'mon. Let's go home."

"But he's here!"

"Not home, right? You'll be safer there, then?" I pondered it a moment.

"What if he follows us?!"

"How? On foot? He couldn't have a car, he said it was too traceable."

"He did it in the movie!"

"They were in-home patients." He was trying so hard not to laugh. I found this a serious matter and nothing to giggle about. But he wasn't the one getting cut up and executed for experiments. Still, how is it amusing?!

"Then...then..." I searched for a plausible outcome.

"Don't you have blankets to rearrange fifty times at home?"

"I do like the green..."

"And yellow. And blue. And purple. And orange, and any color that isn't currently on it, right?" He smiled, running a finger easily down my face.

"Not true!"

"Is so. How about sleep? You look tired."

"I could say the same to you." I sniffed disdainfully.

"Can we make a deal?"

"Compromise?" I retorted.

"Didn't realize there was a difference. But sure. A compromise."

"Well? What are the terms?"

"We go home, and you get sleep. So? Deal or no deal?" I raised an eyebrow, unamused.

"Promise he won't get me?"

"Swear it on the Queen of England's tea." I grouched a bit, grumbling under my breath.

"Fine." He kissed me cheek and steered me in the direction of the car, babbling something about his next tour. I just kept looking over my shoulder, praying the doctor wasn't in pursuit.

Lou got me settled before going to sit beside me in the driver's seat. I felt obnoxious in size, as though I bumped into or knocked over anything that allowed. Sometimes it felt like I'd gained miles, not kilograms.

"S'matter, button?" He poked my nose with the tip of his finger, smiling his rich Louis smile.

"I'm being self-conscious."

"Look, if just me and you know, it's nothing huge. You look healthy now, your hips don't jut from you as bad as they did. You're still beautiful, and will be nine months from now." He was trying to make me feel better, but I just felt worse. Something tugged a cord in my stomach and I looked at myself in the thick orangey light of the street-lamps. I could see a physical change, it wasn't just emotional, and Louis seemed to be blowing it off as so. I had a well-defined bump and it ate at me that someone else might know.

"You're being a sissy about the whole thing." Louis waited for a stop light before pressing his lips to my temple. "It'll be alright in the end."

"Can't we just tell Wily?"

"So she'll tell Zayn and Zayn will tell Harry and Harry will tell Liam and so on?"

"She won't be like that, not about this. We're best friends, she'll keep a secret." Louis eyed me. I swallowed nervously, his expression unreadable in the shadows. I desperately wanted him to speak, just give me insight to what he was thinking. My eyes must've been pleading because when he glanced over he let out an exasperated sigh.

"Not tonight, next time you talk." My heart leapt in my throat. "And make it clear this isn't for everyone's ears!" I nodded and stared at my lap. I jumped when he took my hand.

"Still spooked, I guess." I said when I caught his laughing eye. I leaned my head on the center console, and he smiled and stroked my hair. And there I dreamt of winter and evil snowmen babies, embraced by Louis' gentle touch.
