TW MENTION OF SUICIDE
"Hi ma," Joy greeted her mother.
"Hi po tita, ako na po jan sa luggage nyo." Ford greeted her before taking her belongings and putting it in his car.
"Let's go home and talk, hm?" Joy nodded at her request and they made their way to Ford's car who was waiting patiently for them, even opening the door for the two ladies which earned an amused chuckle from Joy's mom.
The car ride to their house was quiet and somewhat awkward. Joy was too nervous to say anything and Ford didn't know what to say to his future mother in law (according to him) so he just held Joy's hand the whole ride. The couple didn't notice the way the older woman smiled once seeing their intertwined hands.
"Thank you Ford, text kita mamaya," Joy told him once they got to their house.
"Thank you iho, it's good to see you again," her mother told him, earning a confused look from Joy. Ford only smiled at the both of them before waving goodbye.
"Do you want me to call dad and kuya?" Joy asked her once they sat down in their home office.
"Wag muna. I want us to talk, just us two." Joy nodded.
"I'm sorry," her mother told her. "I was angry at you but that was no reason for me to stop talking to you for so long. I'm sorry I hurt you and didn't support your decisions. You're old enough to make your own life choices, I shouldn't have tried to control your life. Mahal kita anak, I just want what's best for you pero alam ko na hindi tama yung ginawa ko sayo." she explained.
"Your tita and I were also in a band back then. Kagaya mo minahal ko rin ang musika. Music was my first love, but it soon turned into my enemy. Being in the entertainment industry, in the spotlight, madaming nakatingin sayo. Madaming fans and madaming haters. I handled those well in my time, but my sister didn't. I lost her to suicide and I didn't want to lose you the same way. I'm sorry Joy and I love you so much." Joy immediately went up to hug her mother who had started crying while telling her story.
"It's okay ma, I understand and I love you okay? I know you were only looking out for me. Mahal na mahal kita mommy."

Midnight Memories
RomanceA short taglish epistolary stand-alone Joy Cerezo and Ford Villanueva swore to keep their fubu title with strictly "no strings attached" but with their tension on and off stage, that's easier said than done.
