Narration
Joy held Ford's hand as they walked into the Cerezo estate. She gave his hand a comforting squeeze because she knew that he was nervous despite meeting her family already.
"Wag kang magalala, it's not like first time mo sila ma meet diba?" she told him.
"Yeah but that was when I was just a manliligaw, now I'm meeting them as your boyfriend." he sighed. She smiled and cupped his cheeks before placing a gentle peck on his lips.
"Don't worry, they're nice and they like you already. Especially si mommy." she explained. He nodded and they walked into the home together.
Joy's parents and brother walked over to them once hearing the door open.
"Ma, dad, kuya Jace, si Ford po. My boyfriend." she introduced him.
"Hi po tita, tito and kuya," Ford greeted them with a handshake which they gladly took except for Joy's brother who pulled him into a manly hug.
"Hi bayaw! Nice to meet you again, welcome to the family!" he exclaimed, surprising everyone in the room.
"Jace." his father told him sternly. There was an awkward silence before Joy's dad broke it inviting everyone to the backyard.
"Let's have some dinner, hm? Ford, marunong ka ba mag luto?" Ford nodded and quickly followed Joy's dad to the grill.
"Yung dad mo, serious mode ngayon." Joy's mom teased when they were out of earshot. Joy sighed as she helped prepare the table. Jace laughed and wrapped an arm around Joy's shoulder.
"Wag ka mag alala bunso. Serious mode yan si Dad pero alam natin na approved na si Ford sakanya."
"Tama yang kuya mo. I caught him re-watching your BOTB collab stage the other day while smiling during your duet with Ford." Joy looked over to her dad and boyfriend at the grill while smiling, admiring the bond that was starting to form between them.
"So, nakita ko yung performance nyo. Congratulations by the way, you performed well." Joy's dad praised Ford.
"Thank you po tito. I'm glad I was able to perform kasama si Joy sa stage instead of competing against her."
"You really like my daughter huh?" he asked Ford.
"Mahal po. Mahal ko si Joy, more than words can express." Ford replied. Joy's dad chuckled before gently patting Ford on the shoulder.
"Alagaan mo yung anak ko alright? By the way, welcome to Discover Music, to you and the rest of Reverie."
"Po? You're willing to take us under your label?" Ford asked. Joy's dad smiled and nodded.
"I've seen your talent and potential through all these years. Nung sinabi ni Joy saakin na aalis na kayo sa label nyo I knew that it would be a great loss for us to not take Reverie before other companies do. Magaling kayo mag perform and mag sulat ng sariling kanta nyo. You also have morals and aren't afraid to speak up for what's right. I admired that about you kaya alam ko that you're right for my daughter. Welcome to the family, son." Joy's dad held his hand out and Ford took it happily.
"Thank you po tito. I promise I will treat Joy right and never hurt her."
The rest of the night was filled with chatter and laughter from the Cerezo family as they dined with Ford. He was growing closer to Joy's family and Joy knew that he was enjoying this all as much as he was.
