Narration
The whole ride to the Villanueva mansion Joy held Ford's hand for comfort. She was terrified and kept thinking of scenarios that would only ever happen in asian dramas. She knew the Villanueva's were a friendly family, but she was still nervous nonetheless.
"Don't worry mahal. I know they'll love you okay? Don't be nervous, let's go." Ford assured her. He softly kissed her to ease her nerves before they walked hand in hand in the home.
The door opened and Joy was greeted with a hug that almost knocked all the air out of her.
"Hi sister in law! Nice to meet you!" Ford's older sister France exclaimed. Joy didn't know what to expect from Ford's older sister but she definitely didn't expect this.
"Hi po ate France. Nice to meet you rin." Joy spoke softly. France smiled and linked her arm with Joy's as she led her into the mansion.
They were greeted by Ford's parents in the living room. His father immediately went over to greet her while his mother stood behind him.
"Nice to meet you iha! We've been waiting for you pero si Ford ang stubborn kahit kelan." he joked.
"Dad naman," Ford whined.
"Hi po tito, nice to meet you po," Joy greeted him. Joy turned to Ford's mom who had an expression Joy couldn't read. She didn't know if she was happy or not with her presence, but Joy still greeted her to be polite.
"Hi po tita, nice to meet you po." the older woman stepped closer and leaned closer to Joy.
"Sure ka na ba dyan sa anak ko iha? Honestly speaking mas deserve mo better," she joked. Joy mentally sighed in relief after the tension in the room disappeared.
"Ma naman! Ako yung soulmate ni Joy. I'm the best she can have and I'll make sure to prove that." Ford suddenly announced. His mother raised an eyebrow at him while her dad and sister were trying to hold in their laughs.
"Luh? Ang ganda ganda ni Joy tapos ang talented pa. Ikaw ba anong ambag mo?" his mother crossed her arms over her chest while looking at her son.
"Ugh mom seriously." Ford whined again.
"Oh tama na yan. Let's go eat hmm?" France broke the little banter between the mother and son before leading Joy to the dining room with her mom.
"Congratulations pala Joy sa BOTB championship nyo." Ford's dad congratulated her.
"Thank you po tito." she replied.
"Joy, don't call us tita and tito okay? Mom and dad nalang." Ford's mom told her. Joy could only nod, stunned at the statement. She didn't know how their first meeting would go, but she was happy that they were welcoming to her and accepted her as part of the family already.
The rest of the dinner was filled with casual conversations at the table with small arguments between the Villanuevas.
"So kamusta yung first meeting?" Ford asked her once they got to his car.
"Masaya haha. Your family is very warm and welcoming and I'm thankful na gusto nila ako." she replied.
"They like you more than they like me mahal. Especially my mom. She's more serious than my dad but with you she was very comfortable and happy. Thank you for joining us for dinner tonight." he took her hand and brought it to her lips and placed a gentle kiss on it.
"I loved every moment of it. Thank you." she replied.
"Mahal na mahal kita my ligaya."
"I love you more my constant."
