Avy couldn't sleep. No matter what she did, her eyes were wide awake. And she could not get a wink of sleep. It was 2am. She had work in some time. She was leading a project. And she couldn't sleep. She tossed and turned, sat up and laid back down, took deep breaths and even stopped breathing to check if the lack of oxygen would make her unconscious and then she would fall asleep.
"Idiot." She muttered after the first attempt of her creative attempt to become unconscious.
"Kya hua?" Sahil's voice came.
She sat up in the darkness, and the curtain moved to the side. Sahil had a bottle of water in his hand when he walked into her so called room.
"Neend nahi aari." She whined. He chuckled, sitting down at the far corner of her bed.
"Kuch stupid Kiya kya?" He asked.
"Maar khaana hai kya?" She asked him.
She looked down at her hands and played with her own fingers. Her eyes were heavy, she was sleepy but she couldn't sleep. That was the most frustrating feeling in the world. Sahil watched her, he could see the literal stress on her face, it was visible to his naked eyes without much efforts. And he knew that she would never talk about it. She wasn't like that. At least never to him. Even when she had found him on the verge of ending his life, she didn't directly force him to talk. But she was there, silently holding him up. Making him feel human again.
"You know? Just because I've been getting frustrated and yelling at you alot lately... It doesn't mean that I love you any less right?" Sahil asked.
"I know." She looked up at him and smiled softly.
"I do it because I love you." He went on.
"Not because you love Anay sir more? And you're scared that I'll hurt him more than he is hurt right now?" She mumbled.
"Pagal hai? You'll make him happier than he has ever been. But I am scared that he'll get hurt... But I'm even more scared that you will. Tu choti hai. He's been in a relationship so serious like a marriage... You've been in literally nothing. You're different from others." He said. She rolled her eyes.
"Pagal." She mumbled, crawling across the bed to hug him. He wrapped his arms around and ran his fingers through her hair.
"You want to come sleep in my room?" He asked her, kissing her head.
"No. Teri girlfriend hai. Ayushi knows us but still... She's your girlfriend. She won't like that." Avy chuckled.
"Aisa kuch nahi..." He began.
"Sahil... You have no idea how happy it made me when I found out that Akriti had not come home in a week. Because he wasn't sleeping next to her. And bloody hell... I don't even think he thinks of me as a girl. I'm his younger mentoree project. So imagine." She laughed at herself. And it literally made Sahil's heart clench.
"You need to get over him. Seriously." He said.
"I will." She nodded, tightening her arms around him.
"And whatever else is going on... It'll get sorted. Okay?" He said. She nodded against his chest as he squeezed her one last time before he left go.
"Go to sleep now." He said, walking off.
"Yeah... I will." She nodded, getting out of bed. He shook his head, chuckling when he saw her walk into Vijay's room.
"He's single." She mouthed, shrugging. He laughed louder, waving her off.
Vijay slept a little weird. He curled up like a fetus on his side. He wore tiny shorts as short as hers which made her giggle and no shirt. She crawled up next to him.
