Part VIII

When Reham entered her room, she closed the door and loosened her clothes. After a period of sitting alone in the room, she rose from her bed and went to her closet, searching for her hidden diary. Then she returned to her bed and lay on her stomach, beginning to write words filled with melancholy and sadness. She wrote in her book about her feelings of frustration and distress because of how people treated her. As if she was a little girl, although she considered herself a mature woman and possessed a femininity she had seen in Omar's eyes and heard in his heartbeat.

"I feel that my life is not going the way I want it to, and despite my attempts to go in the right direction, I find no one to support and stand with me. I don't know what people want from me, and why they treat me this way. I am an independent person and I want to achieve my goals."

Reham continued to write, "Hossam, I respect him and what he offers me, but unfortunately, I don't exactly know what he wants from me. I love Omar, and I can't stop thinking about him and what he feels towards me. I miss him and long to see him." As she elaborated in her diary, her concentration was broken by an annoying sound emanating from the living room. She knew that Hossam knew nothing about the piano or how to play it well.

Reham continued to write while the annoying sound persisted: "Why won't they leave me alone? Why are they always trying to annoy me?" she quietly said to herself. Then she decided to move to stop the source of the noise.

Reham left her room and walked until she reached the living room, and when she entered, she found Hossam trying to play the piano seriously, his features surrounded by seriousness and concentration. Reham saw the love and passion that made Hossam try to learn something new and worth the effort, so she decided to offer him help.

Reham asked with a friendly smile, "Do you need help?"

Hossam answered in a shy voice, "Yes, thank you. I am not good at playing, but I am trying to learn."

Reham said, "Okay. But not now."

Hossam went back to pressing the keys annoyingly.

Reham then said, "Hossam, I wish you would stop playing now and help me set the table for lunch." At that point, Hossam stopped playing and went to help her enthusiastically set the table.

In the meantime, Reham's mother entered the kitchen and asked them what was happening. Reham explained to her, and her mother joined them in setting the table. After finishing, they all sat at the table and enjoyed lunch and conversation.
