"Zalia dear you have to hold still or I am going to poke you in the eyes." My mother says as she applies my makeup for the wedding.

"Sorry mother. I'm just excited."

"I understand but we don't want you to go blind on your wedding day so hold still."

Once she finished she turned me around to look in the mirror and I loved it. It wasn't much just something to make my eyelashes look better, mother lined by eyes a bit and a tiny shimmer on my lids.

My hair was probably my favorite part of it all.

"Alright, now let's get you into the dress."

"Oh Zalia. You look beautiful dear."

"Thank you mother. And not just for the compliment but for allowing me to be myself, to not only be with Billie, but to marry her. Thank you."

"Oh you're welcome dear. Your happiness is all that matters to me, your father too. He's just a little stubborn at times."

"He's still going to give me away right?" I ask and my mother assured me he would.

"Of course dear. Now remember, stand with grace and poise of that of a queen. As you are to be, hold your head up high and most importantly: Say every vow with honesty and meaning."

She says, applying my jewelry. I made sure to wear the necklace Billie gifted me, as well as various other accessories from my mother and grandmothers.

It wasn't too much though, me and Billie agreed we wouldn't over do it. Just keep it simple.

"Yes mother."

"Come. Let us depart." She softly claps her hands and several of our helpers grab the back of my dress so it doesn't drag behind me and get dirty as we walk to the carriage.

I couldn't wait to see Billie.

"Thank you for doing this Martha, you too Mary-Anne." I say to the women doing my hair and makeup.

"For what dear?"

"For coming here and helping me get ready."

"Well you couldn't very well get ready in the castle now could you? Tis bad luck to see the bride before the wedding, and since there's two brides I sense it would be twice the bad luck. We don't need that put on you girls." Mary-Anne said and I chuckle.

"Still, I'm very grateful. If I had more to pay you I would."

"Oh nonsense. We love doing this don't we Martha?"

"Of course. Tis our pride and joy being seamstresses. Now let's get you into this dress."
