THE LAST THING KIARA WANTED TO DO was to be Yue's guard. She would have rather been on the front lines of battle. However, the Chief specifically wanted her to do it. Kiara searched throughout the entire city but couldn't find Yue anywhere. Suddenly, as she was walking, someone collided straight into Kiara. She couldn't see who it was but saw a full head of white colored hair.
"Yue?" Kiara asked.
"Come, quick!" She said in a distressed tone. Yue grabbed Kiara's hand. "Katara and Aang are in trouble!"
"We need to get Appa," Kiara said, trying to ignore the butterflies she felt from Yue's touch. They ran over to where Appa was. Kiara sat on his head and said, "Yip yip."
Appa took off, soaring over the blasts of fire and streams of water. "Down there!" Yue said, pointing to her right. "They're in the spirit oasis!"
Appa landed on a patch of lush green grass, a sight that was odd for the Northern Water Tribe. Katara seemed to be laying down, but jolted awake when Appa landed. Katara looked around nervously, tears streaming down her face.
"What happened, Katara?" Kiara asked.
"Zuko," Katara could barely choke out. "He took Aang. He took him right out from under me."
"Katara," Kiara said, approaching her. She placed her hand on Katara's shoulder. "It's okay, we'll find him. They couldn't have got far. Not in that blizzard."
"Okay," Katara said sadly. They all jumped onto Appa's saddle again and flew out towards the uninhabited part of the North Pole. The blizzard was strong. Small snowflakes whipped Kiara's face as Appa kept flying over the frozen tundra.
"Don't worry, Katara," Yue attempted to console her. "Zuko couldn't have gotten far in this weather."
"I'm worried that they won't get out of this weather," Katara said.
"They're not going to die in this blizzard," Kiara said, still looking ahead. "If there's one thing about Zuko, it's that he'll do whatever he can to get what he wants. They'll survive, and we'll rescue Aang."
They kept searching until night fell again. The stars started to show in the dark sky. Suddenly, what looked to be a shooting star passed over their heads and down towards a small cave.
"That's gotta be Aang!" Katara said cheerfully.
Kiara steered Appa down towards the small cave. As they flew closer to the ground, they saw Aang tied with rope and Zuko holding the back of his shirt to keep him from wiggling away.
"Hand him over, Zuko," Kiara said.
Zuko's eyes widened at her before he glared at Katara. He dropped Aang to the ground and held up his hands. "Here for a rematch?" He taunted.
"Trust me, it's not going to be much of a match," Katara said. She pushed her hands out, which caused the snow to freeze around Zuko's feet. He was propelled about fifteen feet in the air before Katara let go. Zuko fell hard against the ground, knocked out cold. Kiara jumped down and cut Aang from this restraints with one of her knives.
"We need to get to the oasis. The spirits are in trouble," Aang said worriedly, immediately jumping up and running towards Appa.
Kiara stared at Zuko, who was sprawled out on his stomach. He was completely unconscious, with snow covering half of his body. Though she knew that he had changed, that he wasn't the same boy that she had a crush on years ago, she didn't think he deserved to be left there to die. Kiara couldn't imagine herself being able to cope with his blood being on her hands. "We can't just leave him here," She said, looking towards the group on Appa.
