Zoe's POV
I woke up early this morning with butterflies in my stomach. Was today the day I was reunited with my family, or the day I was told I was never going to see them again?
Michael kept me updated, he told me everything they found and what would happen next. He was helpful and kept me hopeful but also reminded me of the realities.
I couldn't eat breakfast, as soon as I woke up; I got dressed and had a quick shower, I tried to wash off the nerves.
I went downstairs and stalked the phone. Every time it rang I would jump at it but it would just be a family member, or friend telling me how much they missed them, and how I had their support. They said if I ever needed anything I could just ask them, but what I needed was John and Kiera.
After a couple of hours I got the call I was waiting for.
"Miss Lawrence?" It was Michael.
There was a pause after I replied.
"Yes?"
"We've found some items we believe could have belonged to your daughter, we need you to come to the station and identify them."
"When?" I asked ready to run there.
"Whenever possible."
I hung up and grabbed my coat, car keys and drove down to the station. When I got there I was met by James, who led me to the room Michael was in. He sat at the table with two re-sealable bags on the desk.
He greeted me with a smile, but I didn't return it. My face dropped as I stared at the bracelet in the bag. I leaned over and grabbed the bag. I immediately recognised it.
"That's her bracelet. She would never take it off, We all have one."
I held out my wrist showing them my bracelet. They looked and nodded.
"We all got one, it was our first holiday together and we made it into a family bracelet. Like a friendship bracelet but for us, our special little family." I smiled at the memory. "What does that mean, are you going to find them?"
"Well, we will soon. This shows what direction they were heading, and they can't run forever."
"Who are they?"
"Your husband and daughter, whether they got forced to run or are just run-."
I cut him off.
"They would never just run, not without me."
He didn't argue.
"Ok and what about this top?"
I held the top it was dirty. I wiped away some dirt and looked clearly. There was a name written on it.
"This says Bethany on it?"
"We're aware, we just needed to make sure." He smiled.
"No, it's not hers." I said handing the top back to him. "Is that it?" I asked
"Yes, that's all we need for now." He smiled and showed me out.
He explained that they would carry on searching the woods and try to find finger prints on the bracket, because if they were robbed or ambushed or something crazy like that then they would know who did it.
I got home and lay on the sofa waiting for any updates. I didn't get any for a couple of hours. I switched on the TV and put on the news to see if they knew anything, but they didn't. Eventually I fell asleep and was awoken by the phone ringing.
