Kiera's POV.
It feels like it's been a year but it's only been another three weeks, nine all together. I didn't try to escape or misbehave anymore, because I knew it was useless. I knew that if I didn't misbehave and I listened to him then he wouldn't hurt me, so I just started to act like 'a good daughter'.
We ate breakfast and dinner together all the time. I had one hand, hand cuffed to the bed and the other hand free. He started to trust me more, but not completely.
I sat on the bed and looked at the clock. It was going to be dinner time in two minutes.
He knocked on the door.
"Come in"
"Hello sweetheart." He smiled and I returned it.
He un-cuffed me and let me go to the bathroom to clean up ready for dinner. He stood outside to make sure I didn't run.
I came out and sat on the bed. He entered the room and set up the table. It was an un-foldable one. He put the food on the table and sat down.
There was a knock on the door.
"I'll get it." He cuffed me back to the bed and left, "stay here."
"Where would I go?" I muttered under my breath. I heard a familiar voice. It was the cop from before. I tried to lean in to hear better but was held back by the hand cuff. I heard a few words which I made into a sentence.
'Two cops came by the station earlier on today, they were looking for your girl, and they had her mother with them. They're sending a search team at first light.'
"Sh*t, I need to go. Buy us as much time as you can."
When I heard the mention of my mom I felt hopeful again. I knew she wouldn't give up on me. I had a chance to get away. There was a knife on the table, it was as though it was calling out my name. I grabbed it and put it under the pillow.
He ran in and said "Get what you need, we need to go" while he un-cuffed me.
I knew we couldn't leave, my mom was too close to finding me, I tried to convince him to stay.
"My leg's not healed yet, I could get an infection or something."
"Wasn't that the same leg you used to run away with? Now stop wasting time we need to go." He questioned sarcastically and with that he left.
I packed some clothes, and the knife, he packed all the food and other essentials. We left the cabin and ran through the woods. We didn't even get to eat dinner. I was so hungry my stomach started to rumble.
While we were running I dropped a few items like a bracelet or clothes, just to give them hints on the direction we were heading. He didn't fuss about it because he knew we didn't have the time.
This was going to kill me but I knew I had to slow us down. I ran on a bear trap and it caught my other leg. I screamed and fell. He took the bear trap off my leg in seconds.
"Shit, stay here". I nodded and watched him run back to the cabin. I shuffled back so I was leaning on a tree. The pain was burning through my body. In no more than a few minutes he returned with a first aid kit.
He cleaned and bandaged my leg.
"Are you going to be able to walk?" He questioned.
I shook my head and he replied "I'll have to carry you then."
My widened my eyes. Did I really just go through all that for nothing?
"What?"
"Bethany, we don't have time to waste."
I groaned as he lifted me up.
What annoyed me the most was whenever I looked up or to the side, I looked at him. So I just faced forward in the direction we were running. I hated the sight of him, it made my neck ache after a while though.
