After an eternally long cold night, the rays of morning sun fell on the surface of the earth and illuminated it in warm colours.
And as the golden rays of the dawn fell on the face of Sol, he gently opened his eyes.
Far in the horizon the sun opened up like a blooming flower and spread it's warm golden petals of light all over the surface.
The forest which exhibited a sinister aura the previous night was lit in warm vibrant colours.
Soothing chirps of birds reverberated all over the lustful green forest which made the inanimate forest come alive. The forest which stretched far and wide ended it's trails infront of the walls of the capital city of the Surya empire.
A cold gust of breeze blew, while carrying the fragrant smell of flowers. Sol closed his sleepy eyes which were barely open.
Breathing in to the fragrant smell of flowers, he felt rejuvenated. He didn't need to wash his face to wake him up, the morning cold breeze was enough for him to wake him up from his half asleep state.
"Lance! wake up."
Sol called out for Lance who slept at a certain distance away from him.
"hmm... Let me sleep for a little more. The morning bell hasn't rung yet."
Lance shrugged him off and kept on sleeping.
"Morning bell? We're not in camp anymore Lance. We're free Lance."
Sol exclaimed.
Lance abruptly woke up after hearing the word free. He had longed for so long to hear that one simple word.
"Right! We escaped from the camp."
With a look of disbelief in his eyes, he spoke.
After conversing for a while, both of them decided to head towards the capital. But as soon as they reached on their unanimous decision to head towards the capital, they quickly met a hurdle.
The cliff where they were transported was too steep for them to climb down. One simple mistake and they would end up dead.
"How do we get down from here?"
Lance pondered while observing the depth of the steep cliff.
Sol walked to the edge of the cliff and took a peek. Indeed the cliff was too steep for them to climb down. He dropped a pebble to check on the height of the cliff.
Splash!
A feeble sound of splash reverberated as the pebble touched the surface.
"Did you hear that?"
Sol exclaimed.
"Hear what?"
Lance bewilderingly replied.
Due to Sol's heightened senses, he was able to hear the feeble sound of splash. But the frequency of the splash was so low that it could hardly be heard by naked ear.
'May be the sound of the splash was too low for him to hear.'
Sol pondered.
Sol then violently turned his head and wandered his eyes, as if he was searching for something.
His eyes abruptly stopped at one point and he let out a wicked smile, as if he had found the thing he was looking for.
Sol walked towards a huge boulder.
As he made his way towards a huge boulder, Lance looked at him puzzlingly. Lance had absolutely no idea on what he was about to do.
"Help me carry this, Lance."
'Has this guy gone crazy? At first, he abruptly questions me if I heard something and now he wants me to carry a boulder?'
Lance frowned.
"Quick Lance!"
Lance rushed towards Sol.
"Help me carry this over the edge."
Sol requested.
"But what are you even planning to do with it?"
While lifting the boulder, Lance complained.
"Just help me carry it, you'll know later."
Both of them carried the boulder which weighed about 100 kilo's. The massive boulder was too heavy for two children to carry. But despite that, they carried the boulder while gritting their teeths.
Making use of every tiny fibre of muscle in their body, they somehow managed to carry the boulder towards the edge of the cliff.
"Now what Sol?"
The weight of the boulder was taking a toll on Lance's body. He spoke with great difficulty.
"Drop it"
"What?"
"I said drop it."
"You serious?"
"For god's sake, drop it Lance. I can't hold it anymore."
"Argh! Whatever"
They dropped the massive boulder down the cliff. As they let go of the boulder, both of them fell down on the ground, tired.
Their hands and legs shook like crazy from lifting the heavy boulder.
Splaaaaaash~~~
A loud sound of splash reverberated as the boulder touched the surface. The loud sound of splash indicated the presence of water beneath the cliff.
"Wha- What's that?"
The loud sound of splash startled Lance.
"That's what I've been trying to say. There's water beneath the cliff."
Sol spoke with confidence and revealed a wry smile.
The tone of his speech made it sound like he was anticipating for the sound of the splash.
"So that's what you were trying to say."
"But what about the presence of water beneath the cliff?"
Lance spoke while walking closer to the edge of the cliff to get a better view of the water beneath the cliff.
"We needed a way to climb down the cliff. And it's the only way."
"No- No, you're not serious right?"
Lance turned back with a worried looking face.
But before he could speak more, Sol ran towards him.
"Yes I'm serious. And the only way to climb down the cliff is....."
"We jump down the cliff, hahahaha"
Sol grabbed Lance's hand and jumped off the cliff.
"Yahooooooooooo!"
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaa"
While Lance was letting out a dreadful scream, Sol was enjoying the moment. Out of fear, while they were falling off the cliff, Lance kept his eyes shut.
Splaaaash~~
Both of them drowned as they hit the water.
Blurb! blurb! blurb!
They continue to drown deep within the water.
Finally Lance opened his eyes and desperately paddled his legs to reach the surface.
"Uwah! Huff! Huff!"
"Why are you so reckless Sol?"
While spitting the water which found it's way inside his mouth, he gasped.
"Sol? Sol?"
Wiping off the water from his face, he looked for Sol.
But Sol was nowhere to be seen. Not beside him, not infront of him, not behind him, he simply wasn't anywhere near him.
Lance started to panic upon failing to find Sol. Worried that Sol might have drowned himself, Lance then sunk his head in the water to look for him inside the water.
His vision got blurry as water seeped inside his eyes. He couldn't see well.
In hopes of finding Sol, he swam deep in the water.
As he swam deep enough, he found Sol's body floating in the deepest part of the water body.
Sol was drowning in the water.
Blurb! Blurb! Blurb!
Running out of oxygen, Lance opened his mouth. But as he did that water seeped inside his mouth.
Despite running out of oxygen, he couldn't swim to the surface to gasp his breath. He couldn't abandon his friend to save his own life. Lance wasn't a kind of person who'd  leave his friend behind to save his life afterall.
Thus, Lance desperately paddled his legs and caught up with Sol. He then grabbed Sol's hand and desperately paddled his legs with whatever oxygen he was left with.
His vision started to get blurry and his body felt heavy. He could vividly feel himself passing out as his consciousness started drifting away.
Just as he was about to give up from exhaustion, a ray of light shone above him.
The ray of light indicating he was close to the surface. With a new found hope, hope of making out alive, he forcefully kept him awake and desperately paddled his legs.
"Uwah! Huff! Huff!"
On the brink of losing his consciousness, he finally made it out of the water. With his determination and perseverance, he overcame a life threatening situation and made it out alive.
But despite that Sol's eyes were still closed and he was still unconscious.
Even after making it to the surface, he had no time to waste being happy. He was still in a precarious situation.
He still needed to help Sol regain his consciousness. No matter what, he had to save his friend.
Thus, without wasting any time, Lance continued to swim without stopping.
Luckily the shore wasn't that far away from him. After swimming for a while, he reached the shore.
As soon as he reached the shore, he laid down Sol and began to pump his stomach to draw out the water from his body.
Without stopping his hands, he continuously pumped Sol's stomach. But he was still unconscious and showed no signs of breathing.
Given the severity of the situation, he was about to perform CPR. But as Lance brought his mouth closer to Sol's to give him CPR.
Sol pushed him away.
"Cough! Cough! Cough!"
"Uwa... That's gross dude."
Sol opened his eyes while spitting water out of his mouth.
"Cough! If you were a girl, I wouldn't have mind it but you're a dude."
Sol joked despite being on a brink of death a moment ago.
"The F*** dude. I was just trying to save you."
"And if I could, then I wouldn't want to do it as well."
Disgusted by Sol, Lance burst out in fury.
