No matter how hard they thrusted their sword towards the monsters, they kept on getting up. Sol and Lance started to show signs of fatigue and exhaustion as they continued to fend of the monster.
"What are they made up of? Don't they get tired?"
Lance exasperated.
Even after fighting for so long, they had barely managed to kill a single monster. But even that didn't minimise their burden as another person made up for the vacant spot left behind by the monster that was killed.
It was getting extremely tiring for them to defend against the monster using their wooden swords. The only reason their wooden sword was able to hold out against the monster for so long was because of their aura.
The moment they couldn't maintain their aura, their wooden sword would have turned out to be absolutely garbage against the monster.
Also there was something unusual about the monster, almost every one of them had a scabbard tied to their waist. Despite having a weapon, they weren't using it.
"Lance, we should make use of the weapon tied in their waist."
Sol suggested.
Lance nodded his head, but it was easier said than done. The monsters gave them absolutely no chance to take the sword in their waist.
Luckily the corpse of the monster which Sol beheaded laid infront of Lance.
But he couldn't simply bend down and take the sword as that would put the lives of the people behind him in danger.
While fending off the monster, Lance turned his gaze towards Sol.
He wanted to ask Sol for his help to help him distract the monsters so that he could grab the sword from the carcass of the monster which laid infront of him.
But Sol was occupied as well. He was getting outnumbered by 7 monsters.
'What- what should I do?'
Despite being an inch away from the sword, he couldn't grab the sword. An ominous feeling of desperation started to gnaw on him as his hopes of picking the sword started to fade away.
In that perilous situation, as if by stroke of luck, a chance presented itself infront of Lance.
An opportunity was created when Sol stabbed his sword at the monster charging towards him.
Sol stabbed his sword at the heart of one of the monster and grabbed the sword from it's waist. As he pulled the sword from the waist of the monster, he kicked the monster and pushed the monster away from him. In turn pulling out the sword.
Sensing the opportunity, Lance yelled;
"Sol help me distract the monster for a while."
Sol nodded his head and forced himself towards the monsters charging at Lance.
"Come at me you green pieces of shits"
Holding his sword high, Sol let out a powerful roar.
Fortunately the monsters reacted to his taunt and shifted their attention towards Sol for slight seconds.
Taking advantage of their distraction, Lance quickly grabbed the sword from the carcass. After almost a year, he was finally holding a real sword.
"F***! Now what?"
Sol cussed.
Every single one of the monster turned their attention towards Sol and started towards him. It was already getting difficult for him to hold out against mere 7 monster but to have more than double of them charging at him, he started to get flustered.
"Argh! Whatever, come at me you green piles of shits."
Sol clenched his sword tightly and steeled his heart to fight against the monster.
The hordes of monster charged at him. From his left to right, top to bottom, their claws stroke him from everywhere except the back.
The only place left for him to retreat was behind him. In a rhythmic pattern he moved his sword, blocking and slashing the strikes of monsters while he retreated back.
If somebody would have seen him perform his sword movements, they might have mistaken him as a sword expert. In their right mind, nobody would have been able to guess that he barely learnt sword techniques for a year.
"If you're done with your reunion, would you mind giving me a hand?"
Sol exclaimed while looking at Lance.
After getting hold of the sword, Lance kept on staring at the sword in his hands as if he had found his lost partner.
"Sorry about that, it had been so long since I last felt a real sword in my hands."
Lance awkwardly apologized.
Lance then rushed towards the hordes of monster and performed exquisite sword movements while effortlessly cutting their tendons.
"It feels amazing to effortlessly slice through flesh."
Lance couldn't held back his ecstasy.
The monsters however only stopped for a while and started to crawl.
"Are you planning to sell this monster?"
Sol inquired.
"No, why do you say so?"
"If not then cut their damn head off not their tendons."
Irritated by Lance's behaviour, Sol burst out in fury.
Sol started towards one of the monster crawling on the ground and swung his sword right through it's neck. As he beheaded the monster, the monster stopped it's movement.
"Did you see that?"
Sol exclaimed.
"See what?"
"They die when you slit their neck."
To test out Sol's assumption Lance walked towards one of the monster and swung his sword at it's neck. The cut was shallow and wasn't enough to behead the monster.
Thus, despite slicing it's neck, it kept on moving.
"So cutting their neck isn't enough!"
Lance quizzically exclaimed.
He then beheaded the monster and as soon as he beheaded the monster it stopped moving.
After that they came to a realization that those monsters only died when their head was cut off. And the reason why they didn't die back then was because they didn't behead them.
The real sword toppled with their aura made it easier for them to slice through their neck without much difficulties.
The remaining monsters however quickly got up. They had already healed their injuries in that short span of time. Their regeneration ability was top notch.
As soon as they got up, they headed towards Sol and Lance who were close to them.
"What? They woke up this fast? What about their injury?"
Sol mumbled in exasperation.
He then glanced at their tendons. There was no cut in their legs. Even more surprising was the fact that there wasn't even a scar. It looked as if they hadn't been injured at all.
But they were already aware of their weaknesses, thus it didn't take long for them to get rid of the hordes of the remaining monster.
With soft nimble steps and nimble sword movements, they effortlessly slid through the neck of the monsters.
Nimble horizontal slash followed by vertical slash, again a downward vertical slash and finally ending the sword movement with horizontal spinning slash, they danced through the battlefield with their sword and cut the head of the monsters as they performed their ethereally majestic sword movements.
With every swing of their sword a head of the monster fell down. Before long, the monsters were wiped out.
The three onlookers couldn't turn their heads away, the sight of Sol and Lance performing their sword movement was simply too majestic to miss.
Their eyes gleaming with admiration and their face delighted by the amazing performance of Sol and Lance, they couldn't help but admire them.
"Wow"
"How did you do that?"
"You guys don't look much older than us?"
The two girls who were rude to Sol previously spoke in unison while the boy kept his mouth shut.
"So what about our looks? We saved you. So shouldn't you say thank you first?"
Sol spoke in fury.
"But we didn't say anything wrong. Isn't it the responsibility of strong to help out the weak?"
The two girls were fixated on their beliefs.
"They need to be taught a lesson."
Sol started to get angry upon listening to their hypocritical remarks.
Sol then with his fist clenched started towards the two ignorant girls. Lance stepped in the middle and somehow held him back from venting his anger.
"Tha- Thank you!"
The boy who was unresponsive all those time feebly whispered.
"Huh?"
Sol exclaimed.
Sol then shifted his gaze towards the silent boy. The boy was about 4 ft tall, his hair was blond just like Lance and moreover he was finely dressed in plain white shirt, black pants and topped with a magnificent black tuxedo.
In the pocket area of his tuxedo was a golden badge with a symbol of tiger. However the boy looked very timid, given the way he dressed.
"What's your name kid?"
Sol questioned while looking at the boy.
"It's Ryan Stafford sir"
The boy timidly introduced himself.
"Wait- did you say Stafford?"
Lance exclaimed in shock.
The boy nodded his head.
"Do you know this kid, Lance?"
"How could I not? Well I don't know him in that sense but I know his family."
In an unorganized way Lance exclaimed. He looked flustered.
"So who's this kid?"
"He's from the Stafford family. One of the wealthiest merchant family of the empire."
"So he's some rich kid huh?"
Sol bewilderingly exclaimed.
"Not just rich, he's filthy rich."
