CHAPTER THIRTEEN

Having no hint of how long I stood there and watched his back muscle swinging through the grey vest he had on as his right arm was moving continuously to instruct the workers where they need to keep the wooden planks and all the necessities required to build the barn which I overheard him talk about to one of the workers.

I couldn’t decipher why he wanted to build something like that in the first place, I mean, obviously, it is his land, he could do whatever he pleases but I bet he must have thought about how it was going to ruin the mansion’s beauty. I wouldn’t deny that his house is as creepy as him but still, it had that old-school beauty that some people would actually pay for to live in his house just to get that eerie vibe.

Well.

I dropped the thought of his house out of my brain and replaced it with something more important. The whole reason why I was standing here, is in the hope to get a chance to talk to Damien and finally sort out this issue.

But, I need God to shoot some gut down in my stomach for it. I couldn’t go straight up to him and say what I have initially prepared, coming to think of it, I haven’t actually prepared anything. I presumed it would be easier as it was for me to do yesterday night yet it was until he caught my excuse to make a conversation.

I could never understand why this has to be so complicated moreover why does Damien have to be complicated, to begin with? I tsked under my breath, my eyes scanning the crushed grass below my sandals with the nail of my left hand’s thumb in a corner of my mouth stuck between my teeth melancholy.

“Dare to stare at her again and I’ll rip your eyes off of their sockets,” His ear-piercing threat hauled me back onto earth. I looked up at him and saw he clutched a slim short man with his shirt’s collars and lifted him almost a foot above the ground level, his legs were shaking in absolute terror it seemed like he would piss his pants if Damien didn’t lose his grip on him, “Do you understood?”

Nodding frighteningly, that man confirmed, his voice shattered, “Y-Yes Sir,”

Damien threw him straight on his hip bones with a loud thud. I wasn’t the only one who was too stunned to utter anything from her mouth, his co-workers had the same reaction on their faces as they saw the scene unfold.

He got up on his feet and sprinted away while giving a quick look at Damien every then and now until he disappeared in the same truck he came in with his team to hide. He drew a cigar from the side pocket of his jeans and burned it with a lighter before he brought it up to his lips in an agitated and nonchalant manner.

It didn’t go unnoticed by me when I allowed my head to register that it was me he was trying to protect from getting stared at by a stranger with lust. I was in a sleeveless long gown in lightish green color that was hugging my body, the shape of my breast and waist looked more pleasing in it and I won’t blame anyone for not noticing it.
