Jack's P.O.V

Dear Jack Foster, we are having a new student here at Monarch Academy. Her name is Kai Maxell, and is deaf. Based on your skill list, we see that you are fluent in ASL. We were wondering if you could be the student's translator and assistant as she adjust to this new lifestyle. She will also be your new dorm mate since no one else seems to have room.

If you agree to these terms, please come my office so you two can meet.

Signed, Principal Kowalski

I had to read the letter a couple times. A new student who just so happened to be deaf? I was rather excited to meet her, know someone who was empathetic to my own hearing issues. I wonder what her quirk is.

The twins, Gracie and Kasey, had moved to Blake's dorm since Kol and Flex were... no longer here.

Speaking of Blake, I wanted to call her up about the new student, but hesitated. If I was going to help her adjust to the life style, might as well allow her to do it as normal as possible. That's what we all want at the end of the day, to be treated normally and not a person who required special needs.

With that, I scooped up my skateboard, and made my way to the school, my mind buzzing with excitement and curiosity.

It was obvious that the day was going to be as when some surfer chick bumped into me.

It was the earth morning, only a few students were in the hallways, preparing for their first classes. My alarm was busted and I ended up waking at five in the morning, so I was already miserable and cranky.

As I shuffled down the hallways, someone's shoulder collided with my chest, making me stumble to the ground.

"Watch it!" I barked when I collected myself. The person in front of me disregarded my comment, her attention on her spilt books she was picking up. She had short black hair with blue dyed streaks.

Her ignorance to my comment angered me. I grabbed her my the shoulder to get her attention.

She looked up at me, eyes wild. Her irises were a cream white with black streaks, fear and confusion in her expression.

I was about to say more when the bell rang for the first class. I have the girl one last glare before stalking off.

As I looked back, the student looked around in a daze, looking at the other students passing around her. Then, as if she was struck by lightning, she ran off down the hall.

What a strange person.

Maybe it wasn't a good idea for me to show the new student around when I barely knew my way around.

Thankfully, I made it to the principal's office right after the bell rang, so I wasn't in too much trouble.

As usual, it was well below freezing since he was a penguin. And I was unfortunately underdressed in the school uniform.

In front of me, Kowalski stood atop his desk. A girl stood next to it, her black and blue dyed hair ruffled as she shivered.

"Mr. Foster," greeted the principal "this is our new student. I'd like to give you the time for meet and greets, but you two need to get to class."

I looked towards the white eyed girl as she greeted herself.
