Yuuto never even thought alcohol would ever be part of his life. The intoxicating drink was the reason his life was flip flopped; the large bottle with the urine looking water in his father's hand. And seeing that made him swear to never hold a bottle like that in his own hands.
But Monarch Academy's student New Years party made him change his priorities.
The final days of 2023 were approaching and the gang wanted to celebrate. One of his friends, David, had emboldened the New Year's Eve party at his, or he should say Kiyo's, dorm.
"Look Kevin," The weightlifter had argued, "You have a three room dorm with only two roomies and the other is hardly there!" Kiyo had only rolled his eyes and tried to pull away from the conversation.
With his back hunched over and turned facing David, he huffed. "Call me by my real name and get me my percentage in cereal then you have a deal."
David's face shined brighter than his metal form. "Kiyo, I will buy every box of Froost Hoops on the shelves for you buddy! Thank you!"
"Don't break anything." The grumpy teen has hugged as he led Yuuto back to their dorms for their last peaceful movie night.
That's where the quirkless boy's memory cut off. Picking up now the first vile morning of January, 2024.
Yuuto had woken up under the couch, pressed flat against the floor. His chest burned like pools of acid, his eyes crusted with sleep that made the world blurry and tearful. His throat was raw and hot, his nose stuffy and sticky, making him hack and cough. He could barely hear his own groans in pain through his clogged ears.
Never being more cautious, the blue haired child shuffled out of the couch, knocking over bottles of champagne and whiskey that clanged together. The song Jingle Bells digging into his mind.
What the heck? Yuuto thought as he looked around his old dorm. The living room was a nightmare. Windows were shattered like gaping monster mouths, their flat screen TV sawed in half, the other slice god knows where. The blue couch had gaping rips with stuffing flowing out of it. Their host, David, was sprawled on the arm with a bottle in his hand, snoring very loudly.
Yuuto leaned over and tried to wake the muscular guy up. "Psst. David, wake up." He whispered softly.
"Mom," he slurred, "leave me alone! It's not a school day."
Wow, he's out of it. The more conscious male made his way to the kitchen. Big mistake.
"Oh my—no!" Yuuto's territory was the kitchen, he loved to cook. So seeing his utensils scattered on the floor, cabinets hanging off a single hinge, stains of wine on the walls, and counters crumbling with his friends snoozing on them took his breath away.
Rikku Fugimoto was curled in the sink, her legs hanging out and stains of beer on her dress. Shizu Miryoku was curled in the corner, cuddling the toaster with a tired smile on their face. Iris Douglas was in one of the demolished pantries, blue hair mopped over their face and their arm dangling out. And Clover was sleeping in the refrigerator compartment of their fridge, which was toppled over and turned sideways.
With a groan, Yuuto disregarded his chivalry, reaching in their occupied fridge to get a bottle of cold water. Not even bothering to keep from grazing his rabbit-like friend.
Before leaving, the blue haired boy took one last look at the mess, seeing the floor littered with cereal crumbs.
"Kiyo's gonna be pissed." He prophesied as he made his way up to the bathroom.
